Jason oftel here. As a 20plus year utility/ residential service technician. 3600÷(sec per 1 cubic foot) at a 7" WC operating pressure. A 2psi system typically passes 10% more than timed. Time the needle on the rise I use the T on test dial as the start stop mark. As all the gears are under tension on the rise. Great video to get you brain in the game for heating season.

Does Your water heater generally run with that door open? Probably should of shut that door before recording each reading from that water heater. Yes, No?
@measureQuick2 жыл бұрын
Good question, yes normally however the ceiling joists are communicating with the rest of the basement so I have a lot of air volume in that room. Also, I have done a CAZ test to make sure that it is not going negative with the door closed.
@DocSawBlade5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for reminding everyone the importance to test with the cabinet cover on - Test any appliance as it would normally operate. I see too many people test with the door/cover off when doing a combustion test. Many industry experts & instructors don't emphases this. Testing with the cover off can and or will add excess air to the combustion process which results in inaccurate measurements.

Can you print directly from the Accutool Bluflame to the MQ printer? I have not been able to figure out how that could be achieved.

In Canada we can not drill holes in the venting. When taking our test outside is it ok to stick our second k type sensor into the Intake outdoors?
@cadcncengineeringfabricati34975 жыл бұрын
Apparently Canadian law says the drill motors have to spin to the left.

I thought that clocking the gas meter was a way to determine the btu content of the gas INSTEAD of calling the utility company? Jim does both though.
@measureQuick6 жыл бұрын
You can not determine the heat content by clocking the meter, you can determine the input if the heat content is known. For all practical purposes, you should use the average heat content as the heat content varies quite a bit throughout the year. That is why we typically see 50% excess air supplied to the burner.

I forgot the gentlemans name but he was doing a national co certification . Anyway he would do this test where you'd breathe into a plastic bag and he'd analyze your breath after 10 seconds, and it was a fairly accurate blood co test .... also fresh air or hyperbolic never atmospheric oxygen in treatment. I forgot why but its counter intuitive and contrary to soc

Natural draft and fan assisted are supposed to be .02 to .04 and your water heater was almost twice that but you were not concerned. I see a lot of draft in the field that is about what your water heater was and was wondering where you draw the line. I'm guessing it will lower the efficiency some since you are pulling more sure through the hx.
@measureQuick6 жыл бұрын
Joe, The draft hood separates the appliance from the draft. So well it was high, it will have no impact on the combustion of the appliance.
@joeshearer12476 жыл бұрын
MeasureQUICK understood. What about a fan assisted furnace that does not have a hood and you were measuring .07-.08. At What point would you consider doing something like a baro damper or downsizing the vent?
