I got 7 out of 7!! Just wanted you to know that my instructor uses your videos and worksheets alongside the regular materials, thankfully, because I can follow your breakdown! Also, for anyone out there who might be looking at these little formulas and thinking "I get the concept, just not where some of these numbers are coming from", or just generally confused by it, one little thing changed my life. Refresh your algebra, baby, go back over rate of change. Particularly the rate of change between 2 points on a graph. Y1-Y2/X1-X2. (output1-output2 divided by input1-input2) It is not exactly the same, but when you remember what you learned about rate of change, this stuff starts making sense!!! Love your videos!!

Hey Mr. Clifford! I actually just had a quick question: Does Income Elasticity or Cross Price Elasticity determine whether a good is Elastic, Inelastic, or Unit Elastic? For example, let's say if the coefficient of either was > 1 (Elastic), < 1 (Inelastic), or = 1 (Unit Elastic). Let me know if I'm right on this. Also, if possible could you explain why it doesn't apply if it doesn't as well. Thank you so much!

Good evening, Mr. C. For clarification and I carefully watch every detail, but I noticed that... correct me if I mistakenly understood the concept of substitutes and complements: 1. Two goods are substitutes when the fall in the price of one leads to a left shift in the demand curve for the other; and 2. Two goods are complements when the fall in the price of one, leads to right shift in the demand curve for the other. This means substitutes must be negative and complements must be positive.

Cross elasticity of demand measures how quantity demanded changes based on the price change of another good. So for complement goods, as the price of one decreases, the quantity demanded for the other good will increase (making it negative). For substitute goods, as the price of one good increases, the quantity demanded of the other good will increase as well-- making it positive.
