I'm totally backing this! Reviewing all the skate stuff we buy but don't need is a genius move. More please.

This review had more pros than cons. Switching to aces weight was difficult for me but once I got my flatground dialed back in they’re the all round best truck. Those turns!!!!!

Indy titanium 149s. They sit lower than standard Indys. If you haven’t tried them, I recommend!

These are my favorite Ace's. The best thing about them being so light is to use larger riser pads in case you need to clap back and fourth to understand the flick. Haven't tried Ace's harder bushings yet though.

Thanks for the review, and I have the same shirt! Got it from their show in Madison Wisconsin. Keep it up

If you are looking for light trucks you should try the tensor mag lights. They are surprisingly good. They grind like butter and are the lightest trucks out

All due respect but, I think having a more consistent kickflip will help you know how a truck affects one's kickflips. I don't think I'm alone when I say that the trucks are probably the least influential piece of hardware of all the deciding factors involved as to whether or not a person can kickflip, or not. I get that trucks change leverage and wheelbase etc, but a person with a consistent kickflip should be able to figure out how kickflip on literally any setup within a few tries, if not first try.

I went from an 8 to a 9.125 egg and ace 66 trucks and love them. You gotta kick your foot more straight off the nose for kickflips on these trucks

I was able to flip okay on the regular Aces, just not the Lows. I think I should have also mentioned that the lower height combined with the tighter wheelbase probably through me off. Although I did skate them quite a few sessions.

I use a longer wb with ace, definitely made the difference with the flick. I love ace 03 with the ace hard bushings on a 14.25-14.50 I use 50mm wheels. I don’t get as much height off the ground but it’s more stable.

Not a lot of AF1 Low reviews out there. I've got a set of the 55s I've yet to try out and am going to do as you did and put the 55 Hollow axle on there too. I'm setting it up on a Baker B2 8.5 with a 14.375" wheel base and some 52mm wheels and see how that feels. It's got some alrite steepness to the nose and tail so should offset the relative lowness of the truck ever so slightly. I really like the AF1 trucks but yeah the axle nuts do have a tendency to come loose unless you really get them on there. I would previously ride with two washers on the inside and one on the outside of the wheel but can't do that with the AF1s because if you do the nut will eventually come undone. I've been noticing the same withe the kingpin nut too. Trying to ride the nut flush with the kingpin just doesn't work that well. Even if you tighten down a bit more the nuts will eventually come loose. I have to check and retighten my nut like once every hour of skating to keep it from becoming too loose. I think you need to have at least a thread showing on the kingpin to have it stick properly. Never really had that problem with any other nuts. Only the AF1s. It's a minor inconvenience but is definitely a negative.

All you need to do is use a replacement nut from literally any other truck brand or just plain replacement nuts because those red nuts are terrible! I do this every time with Ace AF1 models and am able to use 3 washers with the nuts staying on permanently tight. Just give it a try! Let me know if it works out for you!

@@Paulie_Walnuts89 If it works for you it should work. Never had that problem with any other truck brand either. Just the AF1s. Definitely some shoddy quality control there.

So did you put a regular ace hanger on a ace low baseplate? Confused how you got a hollow axle.
@corpoglenny Жыл бұрын
Yes. The hanger on both reg and lows is the same, it's just the baseplate that's different.
@DarkoNomad Жыл бұрын
The weight of the trucks doesn't matter as much if you really know how to do a kickflip. Lighter tricks can actually make it harder because it sticks to your feet better so you need to flick harder.

the reason tgey wont flip is because they are wider than your board and very low imagine trying to tip over a table vs tipping over a bookshelf
