Now that we've finished our entire Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy with an actual lawyer let's play series, we decided to do a fun tier list. We have our real lawyer to playthrough the Ace Attorney franchise and show us just how realistic is the court system depicted in Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney with a voice actor voice reading all the roles! This tier list isn't ranking the characters based on how much we like them, but how well we think we'd be able to take them in a fight. (also enjoy a bar exam question, courtesy of Prij!)

The thing to consider with Dick Gumshoe is that he canonically took on 4 gangsters in the first game. He has actually fought people, and even took on Furio Tigre AND Armstrong at once and survived a car crash. Man is strong as hell and could not be taken down no matter what.

Something you also missed, Godot has access to cups of boiling hot coffee. Even if he only has one, all it takes is hit to either dump it on you or throw it like he does in court, and you are getting serious burn wounds, which significantly improves his odds.

I agree with plenty of these, but 1 thing I'd like to say. Matt Engarde might actually have a chance at killing you. During his breakdown, he claws his face up, and holy shit does it look like that hurts. Sure, he doesn't want to get caught up in the dirty work. But if he has no other choice, I think his uh... Claws... And action movie experience would make him a difficult foe. Even if the scratching doesn't kill you, the pain will probably slow you down. thank you for coming to my TED talk

Argument for Dahlia and Iris: both of them have shown to be able to carry an adult human body which requires a LOT of strength. Also Dahlia AT 14 swam out of such strong river currents than no body has ever been found before. It's a clear victory for either of them.

Phoenix survived -Getting hit by a car and hitting a lamp post and only sustained a damaged leg. -falling off of the same bridge and only got a cold. -survived hot coffee, multiple whips, tasers and probably much, much more. -fast enough to dodge sword swings coming out of nowhere. -bashed through a huge ass wooden door (with probably strong locks) without breaking a sweat. And probably much more and Phoenix is probably a below average to average human in the ace attorney universe.

The fact that Dahlia was able to land a good hit on Godot (under his mask) says something about her combat capabilities- she was also shown to be good at improvising weapons (and literally willed the butterflies in her sprite to spontaneously combust what the HECK). She also quite literally has n o t h i n g to lose, and I feel like underestimating her is what turns so many of her confrontations in her favor. Valerie was a trained officer and Diego already suspected her, and Dahlia still won because she had the element of surprise on her side. I’d say the biggest advantage going in is that you know roughly what she’s capable of, but I also wouldn’t put it past her to sink to new lows, because she’s not going to let anyone just walk away (like Doug Swallow, who was also already onto her ). It’s a definite lose for me, or at the very least inconclusive, because she’s definitely more ruthless than Mimi or Dessie, or heck, even some of the folks in the bottom tier! I wonder what her battle weapon would be, because she does have the necklace and the parasol, but I guess also technically she uses multiple things over the course of the game so idk TLDR: Nah, Dahlia’s terrifying y’all

I got lucky that I hit it when it tried to snatch my cookies. Good thing my defense reaction is punch blindly in assailants direction.

Some corrections: Adrian knows how to use a whip thanks to Franziska. She is also a lot healthier mentally in 3-2. Ben got hit over the head by a grape juice bottle by Max. He can take a hit. Dahlia could almost certainly turn her parasol into a shiv if she is backed into a corner. Edgeworth literally walks up twelve flights of stairs just to get to and from his office. His legs are incredibly strong. Diego was able to crush a mug with his bare hands. Even after his coma, he was still pretty strong. (Was probably extremely motivated to get in and out of rehabilitation.) He also has mugs of extremely hot coffee as a weapon. Lotta can definitely fight given her background. Luke did manage to kill Kane Bullard, who is extremely strong-looking. He also damaged an ornamental sword. Meekins would realistically be in Tough Fight But I Win. His fighting is too unpredictable and he would have access to a firearm. Money would definitely kill. Most primates are ruthless. Oldbag is a security guard and has said that she can fight very well. Polly would be a glass cannon. Trilo will lose but will definitely give some cuts upon breaking into pieces.

PETER PAN: He can fly! THREE LITTLE PIGS: He can fly! THE CAPTAIN: He can talk?! DONKEY: Ha, ha! That's right, fool! Now I'm a flying, talking donkey. You might have seen a housefly, maybe even a superfly but I bet you ain't never seen a donkey fly. Ha, ha! (The pixie dust's effects begin to wear off) Uh-oh. (He drops out of the air and hits the ground with a thud.) THE CAPTAIN: Seize him! Donkey dodges the guards as they try to grab him and runs deeper into the forest. GUARDS: He's getting away! Get him! This way! Turn! Donkey escapes deeper into the forest and runs head first into Shrek's backside. Shrek turns around to see who bumped into him and glares down at Donkey. Donkey looks scared of Shrek for a moment, but he quickly hides behind him after seeing that the guards have caught up to him. THE CAPTAIN: You there. Ogre! SHREK: Aye? THE CAPTAIN: By the order of Lord Farquaad, I am authorized to place you both under arrest and...(Shrek slowly approaches the group of guards, the guards visibly frightened by him) transport you to... a designated...resettlement...facility? SHREK: Oh, really? You and what army? (Smiles) The Captain looks behind himself and sees that all the other guards have abandoned him. The Captain tucks tail and runs off. Shrek shakes his head and starts walking back to his swamp. Donkey, impressed by Shrek, follows him. DONKEY: Can I say something to you? Listen, you was really, really, really somethin' back here. Together we'll scare the spit out of anybody that crosses us. Shrek turns and regards Donkey for a moment before loudly roaring in is face. DONKEY: Oh, wow! That was really scary. If you don't mind me sayin', if that don't work, your breath certainly will get the job done, 'cause you definitely need some Tic Tacs or something, 'cause your breath stinks! Shrek walks off. Donkey reappears ahead of him, dangling from a felled log. DONKEY: Man, you almost burned the hair outta my nose, just like the time...(Shrek covers his mouth but Donkey continues to talk, so Shrek removes his hand.) ...then I ate some rotten berries. I had strong gases leaking out of my butt that day. SHREK: Why are you following me? DONKEY: I'll tell you why. (Drops from the log. Singing) "'Cause I'm all alone, There's no one here beside me, My problems have all gone, There's no one to deride me, But you gotta have friends..." SHREK: Stop singing! @@falsnamae3511 Monkeys are ridiculously powerful. I wasn't exaggerating when I said they'd tear you limb from limb, that's happened before. They'll rip your arm right out of its socket. They're small but they're all muscle. I think the accepted ratio right now for chimps is that they're about 50% stronger than humans; look up what a chimp can do to a human face in seconds if you don't believe me. A few of the top tiers (including the lion obs) win but loads of the untrained humans in that tier get shreked.

Counter-argument for the Bellhop: Knocking the tea set out of his hands activates his rage boost, making him an either tough fight but I win, Stalemate, or tough fight but I lose.

Here's my input on this: - If bringing up prior trauma works on Adrian, it probably should work on Ema too, meaning that you can bring up the Joe Darke thing and mentally cripple her and go for the kill. - Edgeworth is a lot stronger than he might appear. In anime he picks up the samurai spear and throws it to Phoenix, who falls immeadiately upon catching it. - Dahlia survived falling into the fast river of cold water and was able to swim to safety, and when she was channeled by Misty, she was able to fight Godot even after he got the jump on her. - Dee Vasquez was able to fight off Jack Hammer (a jacked dude with height advantage and a weapon), who explicitly came prepared to kill her that day, she also has enough grip strength to crush a pipe in her hands. She might be stornger physically than she appears to be. - Phoenix is incredibly lucky, being able to survive a fall from Dusky Bridge and getting hit by a car amongst other things. Also whenever he had to fight, he was at a disadvantage (von Karma had a taser, Furio Tigre had Armstrong hepling him, mafia encounter speaks for itself), except against Redd White who is strong as hell. I think he would win easier overall. - Ini/Mimi suffers from fatigue and also was probably injured pretty badly after being in a car crash. Her knowledge of the vitals also didn't help her when fighting Grey, whom she plotted to kill from the beginning. After getting a jump on him, she still missed any of the instant kill points of his body, and if his aim wasn't crap, he would've shot her dead. - Gumshoe canonically won against Furio Tigre for whatever that's worth. - I think you guys would have easy time disarming von Karma, who is an old man and even has to use a walking stick in the anime, even if the brings taser to a fight. - Dr. Grey has bad aim, meaning you would have a shot at disarming him before he can attack you with his gun. These are just small nitpicks, I mostly agree with your rankings.

I will say that even though Dahlia is pretty small and (as far as we know) has no combat training, she is probably the most ruthless character out of the whole roster, so while many other untrained combatants might hesitate to seriously hurt someone in a fight, Dahlia would not. I still think you guys could probably beat her on size alone, but I could just as well see a reality in which she wins (and of course kills you because she can't have you talk)

Judge in Phoenix' dream sequence, though? Instantaneous defeat. Can't believe Mr. Monke wasn't on the list! A true tragedy, and definitely an "I died". Honestly, I think if Trillo and Ben were together, they could put up a real fight. Also, the sheer concussive force from the blast of Trillo's explosion might knock you out, and since he very clearly regenerates in a matter of seconds he's got infinite ranged ammunition. As others have mentioned, you can't discount Godot's scalding hot coffee, in potentially infinite numbers. If he's going blind, you're going to be too. Don't forget, Acro has a supply of birds at his beck and call; they can go for your eyes and blind you while Acro wheels up for the finishing strike. Combine him with Victor Kudo and you've got a death warrant. While Joe Darke does have a killer's disposition, do keep in mind he's probably not actually that great in a fight (Or, at least, he's beatable). Most of his victims were unarmed civilians who had no idea what he was doing, and he had a stalemate with Marshall's brother, which Ema helped to bring about. Speaking of Ema: Ema with the "blue badger" clay pot? Soon as that gets dropped on you she's just gotta pour luminol down your unconscious body until you're dead. As you brought up with Maya's channeling abilities; even if she's not particularly consistent at it, her casting time can be near-instant when her life is threatened (or when Phoenix is doing a really bad job in court). Since she'd probably go for Mia first, I'd probably bump her up to Mia's position in the tier list, maybe slightly below. If Bellboy felt his life was truly threatened, he'd probably sacrifice his tea set in the name of "We'll make this hotel a REAL Murder Manor!". Shards of shattered porcelain, not to mention potentially scalding tea? Potential instant K.O. If we're giving everyone their weapons, I think it's only fair we give Ron his MasqueDeMasque costume, and maybe a few gadgets. He was able to escape from and outmaneuver trained police officers, he may be able to get the drop on you for a tough fight; still probably a win. Speaking of: Mr. Sahwit's got his toupee. Bonus temporary blindness effect. Won't change his ranking much. aaand I think I'll stop repeatedly editing this comment now!

There is, I think, one character who *may* be stronger than DeKiller, and that's Sirhan Dogen. We only see a single exchange where Dogen prevents DeKiller from killing someone, and DeKiller leaves out of respect for his fellow assassin. Dogen blocked a strike with full killing intent behind it, and that, mixed with his experience as an assassin, and collaboration with a large dog, may put him on the level with DeKiller. Maybe.

No adverse affects at all. He didn’t even have a bruise when Blanco Nino socked him in the jaw. With rings on his hands. And he recovered from complete amnesia in a couple hours after being conked over the head with a full fire extinguisher. Most characters in the series would have died after the punishment Nick can endure. So it really says something about Armstrong that he can KO Nick Lana has very strong legs to be able to kick over a full drum of water while being restrained. It only took one kick according to Angel, so her win condition is just to kick one you guys and you *will* fold Preemptively, I do think Nick would win. It wouldn’t be easy on his part, but he would win via a battle of attrition so long as you don’t have a weapon. His endurance is insane, so unless one of you guys are secretly Armstrong/Blanco Nino levels of strong, you aren’t beating him. 1:30:07 I dunno, she is canonically a pyromaniac, so I would imagine she has access to anything an arsonist would need on hand. I don’t care how bad her head injury is, the psychological advantage she has over me with that one fact would probably be enough for her to beat and kill me. Plus, she’s a member of the Cadaverini mafia, the granddaughter of its current head. She is at the very least a stalemate without her kit, and a kill with it.

I’m with Zak on Money, pitting him against a grown man is like a gorilla vs a grown man with a sharp blade. Money is likely to inflict wounds that will quickly prove fatal, but I can’t see him getting out without being completely crushed. Also Von Karma belongs a few tiers higher for the fact that it probably takes him like 3 minutes to brush off the cobwebs and retrieve his taser from his pockets, and Phoenix just let him because he’s a dumbass.
