What I love about Dahlia’s track is that the way you interpret the track varies depending on whether you played the game or not. Before playing T&T I found it calming and majestic but after playing it it’s straight-up eerie to me. Dahlia is just so evil.

Every Ace Attorney game has the same general tracks: -Courtroom Lobby -Trial -Cross Examination Moderato -Cross Examination Allegro -Telling the Truth -Objection -Pursuit -Detention Center -Investigation Opening -Investigation Middle Stage -Investigation Core That's why a lot if the time, to distinguish between the OSTs, we number them after release year, so this game has Cortroom Lobby 2004, for example. If a track doesn't loop, it's safe to assume that it's used for cutscene music . Add to that Character, Location and Recollection themes and that's just about it.

im not sure if all the themes with the same name or if its just the pursuit themes that do this, but they usually have like a subtitle of sort which is also used to distinguish and personally its easier for me to remember which one is wanting to find the truth as opposed to which one is pursuit 2011

Just know that if you listen to the next game’s soundtrack, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, that it’s the first Ace Attorney game originally made for the DS (not ported from the GBA), so it sounds quite different. Apollo Justice and AAI2 have my personal favorite ost’s, so you’re in for a treat!

Each game had it's own composers: Masakazu Sugimori did the first game OST, Akemi Kimura did the second game OST and Noriyuki Iwadare made the third game OST. Iwadare-sensei is great and made other OSTs related to Phoenix Wright series too.

A game’s soundtrack I’d recommend checking out is Crypt of the Necrodancer. Not only is it a really cool and fun soundtrack, the game actually has 7 official soundtracks, where they all feature the same songs, but each soundtrack was done by a different musician and in a very different style, so there’s a lot to take a look at there.

It's possible that the people who revamped the GBA sounds for the DS put a little more care into the snare sounds for this game than for the first, because the remakes did come out one after the other (pretty sure there was a year between each). But I haven't listened to T&T's original GBA soundtrack to compare so I'm not sure.

Great reaction! I'm pretty sure Godot ~ The Fragrance Of Dark Coffee IS swung, or at least that's how I play it XD Again, I'd love to see your reaction to The Great Ace Attorney 1 and 2! There are elements taken from these games (such as the formulas for the Objection and Pursuit themes) but it's all fully orchestrated. And unlike these games, the cases follow one pretty-linear story which means that a lot of motifs return and get developed- very well, might I add. By far my favourite OST(s) from this series.

I love the Ace Attorney series and how it deals with their music. There is nearly any voice acting in this novel game but the music makes this game as a cinematic as it is. I really hope you do Xenoblade Chronicles someday. The music there is amazing. The Definitive Edition is the best way to listen to it as it utilizes the system’s capabilities to enhance what is already a masterpiece. Keep doing the great work, Coach! Cheers!

You're right about the shakuhachi. The temple music uses some very interesting pitch bend and wave manipulation tricks to emulate traditional instruments like that (as well as a sho and kagura suzu) because the actual instruments didn't exist on soundfonts back then.

I really hope there's something you could do about not being able to see the full title of the songs. You're missing out. Also, it is completely normal for videogame OSTs to have songs loop twice on each track. This is to maintain the transition between loops as part of the OST, and it helps with how they're saved within the game files. Programming is handled a bit differently when a song has to be able to play for an indefinite amount of time. So don't be surprised if you hear a song repeat itself.

I’d really recommend any osts from the Etrian Odyssey series. They have a similar sound to some of the ace attorney game’s songs. The first ones have a more limited sound font, the later ones being more complex being on the 3Ds. There are also symphonic arrangements of the older games which are really good. I haven’t played much of the series but I love listening to the music. They aren’t very popular so I don’t think they’d win any of the polls/do well for a stream/video, but if you ever feel like checking them out in your spare time, I’d highly recommend them.

i feel like you might enjoy the Advance Wars soundtracks. out of all the old Nintendo games I've played, this game series has always had my absolute favourite soundtracks in it.
