Is this your notion of an aerial fortress battle, AC5? C'mon, now. It's not bad, but... well, you know the drill. Could be bigger, but isn't. Pretty spaceplane, though... from some angles. Wish it the cutscene panned lower, too. It'd make the thumbnail even more A E S T H E T I C, but it always stays at the top of the screen...
This was also the third and final mission I had to go down to a lower rendering resolution. And it was just plain bizarre, because it plays mighty fine 90% of the time, but there's one particular direction that you can't look at, and in my case would drop the frames below 40(!) if I even looked that way. And there's absolutely nothing over there. I just don't even.

@hartantoanggoro but like the arkbird the Arsenal Bird was used against us as a enemy so like the Ark bird Arsenal bird was also destroyed

I don't think they did - it's implied they boarded it through the SSTO.

They more than likely killed most of the original crew. Except of course for the astronaut that sabotaged the controls and escaped

Honestly the BGM in this battle is really good. It does give (me) a sense of regret, because you have to shoot down the Arkbird, but it has to be done in order to save the world. However, I don't know why they'll let a giant plane that's easily spotted even on the ground with your eyes to be flying alone without any escorts.

It's a space plane. No one is supposed to know about the attack on Okchabursk and they even said the Osean army is wrapped around their fingers, so why would they expect an attack on it? Edit: I forgot they also gave it the ability to deploy armed UAV's and it had banks of AA Missiles on board. So they did also prepare it for an attack just in case

I really want to know who programmed the UCAV's for this game. One minute they're there, the next they go hypersonic outside the map. It does make things interesting when they start spazzing out like that though.

I remember the initial TLS would give me a lot of hell when I used to play it, but nowadays I'm better at ducking and weaving. I really like this mission's BGM too. Hope you like those X-47s though, cuz you'll be seeing a lot more of them in AC7.

A fairly standard multi-phase aerial fortress, all in all... except with less guns and more waiting games than the others in the series, so, standard AC5, really.

This mission's scale could have been bigger, but I like it. It was a great set piece, and the biggest challenge is making sure you don't fall behind or slam into the Arkbird when it changes course.

what the fuck even are those ucavs tho Acepedia refers to them simply as "Vogels", and they don't heavily resemble any real life UAV. They look mostly like X-47s, but... They're too "delta" shaped for it. Kinda like miniature B-2s. They're fucking absurd though. Faster than a Foxhound, more maneuverable than the fucking X-02, and they're as durable as an A-10. THAT is a super plane. I wanna fly one. So badly. Oh. And the Arkbird. TLSes are annoying, otherwise, meh. Gotta love the "It suddenly moves like a normal plane" glitch. That AC JA took and ran with for the Orgoi. (And is one of the few things I like about JA if only because of how *_absolutely fucking absurd_* it is)

I don't hate it, I just disagree with the story over gameplay paradigm. The Arkbird is *extremely* cool, but it did deserve a greater showdown. More lasers, more UAVs, fighter escorts. More, more more! As it is... just feels a bit lacking. Reading back though, this one's a bit more negative than it should be. Should have conveyed it better.

@@TugaAvenger remember that the game was pretty accurate in terms of technology for the time period in 2010 there weren't a lot of laser based weapons in use and there aren't a lot of combat UAVS around that time either so given technology limitations at the time I'd say that the arkbird was pretty well armed. What those idiot belkans could've done is learned to code the secret messages better in cade anyone else receives the coded transmissions they can't decipher it in time

@@Nachomansupreme It is really. Yuktobania never gave a reason why they declared war. Even if they were manipulated, they still need a cover story to the public. A whole bunch of pilots died to the Arkbird because for some reason, pulling a flight stick up is some high level piloting skill. And let's not forget that Chopper died idiotically by going headfirst into the stadium when in the same city, there's a river not too far from his position where he could've crashed into instead. So yeah, 5's story is pretty stupid.

Whats the importance of this "battle zone"? Why cant they pursue the Arkbird or anything else if it leaves the battle zone?

It's mostly just a game limitation. In reality they would be fuel limited, and the "battle zone" limit would be their maximum range. But fuel would also enforce a tight mission timer.

Would it be possible for you to replicate the bug on this mission that causes the Arkbird to fly like a UAV? I'm curious if it's possible in this emulation!

It is, I've seen emulated footage of it. I tried, but it takes unbelievable luck (or lack of) for it to happen.
