Man I got ace combat 7 and I tell you I love the cutscenes in ace combat 4 (studio 4°C) and 5. Here they have lost it and no. 7 they brought it back somewhat but still isn't up there with them. But I'm still a fan of the game series and never want it to stop. I wish they didn't bring in the price of planes. If you shot it you unlocked it, that was it. I prefer the old school before everything got complicated.

God, the voice acting is terrible in this game in both cutscenes and gameplay. Especially in the first cutscene. The mother mumbles most of her words and it's just maddening to see the CGI actor's body language suggest talking loudly, and actually hearing '...listen to your teacher, okay...?' Fun fact. This was a game I played before Xbox Live. BEFORE I could actually comprehend things and understand hidden meanings in stories. And guess what? I easily understood the story. Practically everything I understood. And this was back in the days I never understood any hidden meanings without it being explained to me, which never happened. That says something. Wanna know what it says? This story is cheesy and extremely easy to understand. If they wanted to make it have many hidden meanings, there was nothing stopping them. But they didn't, because Ace Combat is not that kind of game. It is about the gameplay, the rush of flying in the skies. Because it is an arcade game, just like Dynasty Warriors, Mortal Kombat, Devil May Cry, and a whole bunch of others, even Guitar Hero. Devil May Cry, no one cares about the story at all. All I hear about DMC3 and 4 is Dante, Dante, and guess what, more Dante! Because it is the DMC3/4 Dante! Dynasty Warriors, no one cares about the story! Joshscorcher said it best in his Top 10 Overhated Video Games list. Mortal Kombat, I don't see much love for the story, so who the fuck cares!? It is a fighting game after all! Street Fighter is also another game like this, same as Tekken! No one cares about the story, cause all I hear of Street Fighter is Ryu, Hudoken, and Shoriuken! Because no one cares about anything else. Guitar Hero, same thing, you play songs, I didn't even pay any love to the story of Guitar Hero 3. Only did so with Lou because, you know, Devil of Rock, and The Devil Went Down To Georgia. But that wasn't even story! Case in point, being an arcade game, story in Ace Combat is negligible. This arcade game series in particular is known for having cheesy, crazy, yet engaging stories, so of course people are going to be critical about the story of this game. Other games like Street Fighter and Guitar Hero indeed focus more on gameplay than storytelling, but this series in particular focuses heavily on both of those subjects. The story of Ace Combat 6 isn't too bad (though the voice acting and the forced 'go dance with the angels' line is unbearable I mean seriously), but I and many others genuinely feel that this game doesn't live up to previous titles.
