Question: Why did the Flagship Fighter Ace Combat 5 become Grumman F-14A Tomcat? In 2004, Tomcats, despite its advantages, lost to F/A-18 in terms of economy. It would have been wise to use the main fighter squadron Wardog/Razgriz McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet or Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet or Dassault Rafale M, and even Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II (even in 2010 it was still at that time during tests). PS: For the mission no.21 it is best to use the Saab JAS-39 Gripen C. An ideal fighter for reconnaissance tasks.

Simple, Osea's economy was able to maintain the F-14. Also despite being set in strangereal's 2010 it was released in 2004.

Maybe. But the estimated cost of maintaining the F-14 Tomcat by the US Navy in 2015 was $ 2.5 billion. And so Osea had to know that even the F-14D Super Tomcat is unprofitable (if the army budget was cut, and more money went to Arkbird). In 2019 (Ace Combat 7) Tomcats should have been withdrawn long ago and replaced by F/A-18 Super Hornet, Rafale M, F-35C Lightning II and received from Emmeria CFA-44. Coming back to AC5, if Wardog/Razgriz was a squadron of air forces, why would she use a naval fighter jet? It does not make sense. They could not use F-15 or even F-22? Even the F-15N and F-22N would be more economical than the F-14, if only these two fighters were not on ... paper.

It is still very simple, as big as the U.S economy is Osea's is far larger and they probably made new air frames (most of the F-14's maintenance was due to the sheer age of the air frames). Also due to Ace Combat being a game they wanted the main aircraft to be different and so didn't use the F-15 or F-22. Also while Wardog was an air force squad if Sand Islands airbase was destroyed then their best option to continue their role, first line defense of the mainland, the best option would be the OFS Kestrel or one of the other aircraft carriers in the Ceres Sea. Razgriz is very different, they are a carrier squad, operating almost exclusively from the Kestrel.

I understand. But I will still think that for this squadron, Hornet/Super Hornet (Growler), Rafale M or F-35C would be better (even if it was only on tests). At OFS Kestrel II there should be only Super Hornet and F-35C. Possibly also CFA-44. Super Tomcat, although it has many advantages, in 2019 (and even in 2010) is outdated (unless ASF-21 was introduced). That's why Super Hornet Block III (Growler), F-35C and Rafale M are the future of OMDF. By the way, I have two questions for you. 1. Will F-15N Seagle and F-22N Sea Raptor have a chance to be better than F-14 (and the Model 1600 or marine version of F-16 would be better than Hornet) and would appear in Ace Combat 7 in DLC "Unfulfilled dreams", if such a DLC was created? 2. Will the squadron Razgriz, like the title demon, return due to the situation in Ace Combat 7?

Ok first things first. The OMDF will never really use the Rafale as it is designed for French carriers. Also while the F-22N has the potential to be better at some things then the F-14 it can't carry the Phoenix which is a major disadvantage, the F-15N wouldn't have been better then the F-14 as the F-15N and for that matter the F-22N have large wings so they would take up more deck space. The F-35C could be an effective option but it doesn't look as cool.
