Game: Ace Combat X2 Joint Assault (PSP)
Finally unlocked all colour schemes and weapons!
Was it hard to unlock everything? No. To unlock colour schemes, spam Mission 12. Playing this mission on Ace difficulty gives you a HUGE kill rate boost. And this mission is hella easy anyway. Kill rate is what unlocks plane colour schemes, by the way, and your kill rate is increased accordingly after each mission. To unlock weapons, spam Mission 4. It requires the least concentration (I can do this mission blindfolded xD), it's the fastest and also the easiest mission in the whole game. You usually unlock all weapons after 8-10 missions.
Now, we'll move onto the plane review. What is my criterion for a good plane? Good speed and mobility, that's basically all you'll ever need, in most cases anyway. And if I happen to offend you because I called your favourite plane crappy, calm down.. I don't care how good the plane is in real life, I don't care. I will simply judge according to the plane's performance IN THE GAME. And I think I know what I'm talking about since I've used all the planes in the game, but if you don't agree with me.. Well, it's my opinion anyway.
F-4E Phantom II
Weapons: QAAM, MPB, UGBL, GPB
Tier: E
Favourite colour scheme: 05
Your starting plane. It might be crappy at the start when you have nothing to tune it with, but becomes decent after some proper tuning. Stats are overall balanced, controls are decent, thus earning it a place in tier E. This plane isn't that bad, and if you think it's bad... Well, you'd be very unhappy to hear that this isn't the worst plane, there are planes a lot worse than this one.
F/A-18E Super Hornet
Weapons: UGB, ECMP, XMAA, LAGM
Tier: C
Favourite colour scheme: 04
Not bad, not bad at all. This plane's got okay stats, and on top of that it can be armed with great weapons (XMAA, LAGM). Mobility and speed aren't that high so it's only in tier C.
F-15E Strike Eagle
Weapons: SAAM, GPB, SFFS, ODMM
Tier: A
Favourite colour scheme: 06 (Cipher)
WOW. This plane is AWESOME. One of my favourites. The famous F-15E has great stats, and can be armed with ODMM. I'd definitely recommend you to purchase this plane as soon as it's available. Only flaw is there's no colour scheme of Solo Wing Pixy's F-15E. T_T
F-15S/MTD
Weapons: SOD, FAEB, XLAA, SASM
Tier: C
Favourite colour scheme: 04
Well.. It's not a bad plane, but the F-15E just makes this plane look crappy. This plane has a good arsenal of weapons.
F-5E Tiger II
Weapons: UGB, RCL, QAAM, XAGM
Tier: E
Favourite colour scheme: 05
This plane's a bit worse than F-4E.. A bit hellish when trying to grind for colours and weapons. It's so hard to lock onto air targets with this plane.. I honestly don't care about this crappy plane. xD
A-6E Intruder
Weapons: UGBL, LAGM, LASM, ECMP
Tier: F
Favourite colour scheme: 06
Tier F for FAIL. This plane is sooo bad.. It's supposed to be good for air to ground missions, but you fly so slow you'll fall asleep before you get to bomb anything.. And doesn't help when you have like no anti air capabilities at all.. It gave me HELL trying to unlock everything for this plane. I'd suggest you stay away from this plane.
X-29A
Weapons: QAAM, FAEB, SASM, LAGM
Tier: C
Favourite colour scheme: 04
This plane's overall stats aren't good at all. The high mobility helps it secure a place in tier C, though. It's not that bad of a plane, but the slow speed can make you fall asleep sometimes..
F-14D Super Tomcat
Weapons: SAAM, NPB, GPB, XLAA
Tier: C
Favourite colour scheme: 04
I like the 04 colour scheme because it's flashy with roses. =D
This plane's pretty darn good. You could consider this plane tier B.. It's kinda in between the C/B. xD
The speed's okay, great mobility, and can be armed with XLAAs.. Awesome!
A-10A
Weapons: GPB, SFFS, FAEB, XAGM
Tier: F
Favourite colour scheme: 06
Another extremely slow plane.. Good for bombing ground targets but can't really deal with air hostiles. I hate planes like these. Well, at least it has insane armour, so you could say this plane's a tier E.. But still a failure in my eyes so I'm sticking with tier F.
YF-23A Black Widow II
Weapons: ODMM, NPB, BDSP, ODMM
Tier: A
Favourite colour scheme: 02
My god! This plane is GODLY. Good speed, great mobility, and to top it all off, it can be armed with ODMMs and Sniper OS.. That's more than enough to secure a place in tier A. I recommend that you buy this plane as soon as it's available, I seriously doubt you'd regret it.
