They're not implying that the guitar is the real McCoy it's simply a replica. Also they're not selling them for 2,600 - 5,000 dollars they go anywhere from 250 - 350 dollars. that guitar sounds great for 300 dollars. I only wish they were selling those guitars when I were 13.

Looks and sounds amazing. The fake knock off realm isn't really underground at all. The stuff is for sale across so many mainstream online sites it's not funny. And as stupid as this sounds these sites promote these sales and will suggest them to you. Maybe the way to see these knock offs is more a wake up call to the Gibson company to really look carefully at your business model and pricing. I stopped looking at knock off products on this site after KZbin started to demonetize them. Somehow it was against their TOS but they never explain why they attack content on this site.

Half the fun of owning a Chibson is telling all who ask about that it’s a fake and only cost $300! I have a “Joe Perry 59’ Tobacco sunburst” arriving in January, $249. I feel no guilt because honestly, I would have NEVER bought the real thing at $10,000 +.

Just admit you wanted it to hang on your wall. Comparing buying one to stealing music is not accurate. If you are paying $300 it's not stealing. Intellectual property does not apply in this case. Maybe if more people buy these, the real Gibson might lower their prices. By the way, when you played it, it sounded pretty good.

Thanks George. As I said in the video, I didn’t understand the implications of copyrights etc. Now I own it and play it about once a year. It sits on the wall looking pretty so I now consider it an art investment. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have bought it. I almost pulled the trigger on a knock off Ibanez PS to hang next to it but my conscience and desire to not be a hypocrite won the day 😊

I have a Jimmy Page #2 Chibson. Not a great guitar but, it was bought as a project, just for me to see how good I could get it, whilst not risking destroying my Gibson. So, I upgraded the tuners with some I had lying around, same with a set of Epiphone ProBuckers, and I did some fret levelling, recrowning and dressing, after watching a few KZbin videos on how to do it, and finally a setup. Is it now anywhere near as good as my Gibson? Nope. But it's much better than when it arrived. Plays nice, stays in tune, and is fine as a practice and backup guitar.

Throw some emgs on that thing. Quit crying, build your own guitar. Trust me I know where you’re coming from but you better be glad you can still by decent guitars in the 300 to 500 mark. Build your own on 5he cheap, if you do it right you’re still gonna spend 700 unless you’re a tunnel rat when it comes to guitars.

Just tell them to take the logo off they are happy to do so.I bought a White custom,changed pickups and tuners love it.Have an 84 stripped copy just for the body so i did not have to paint it.Put an FRT5 german made on that and love it too.

I found a FAKE "Fender" Tele in Thailand for about $60... It plays great, super fast neck, clear pickups, solid construction. The only problem is intonation - that can be fixed with better bridge saddles...

I have a few guitars and one is a 81 vantage spirit 510 Gibson copy made in Japan and it plays amazing sounds great sounds heavy stays in tune paid 200$ 17 years ago still sounds amazing now has Seymour Duncan’s 🤙🏼

But Harley Benton, Firefly, Grote, all those brands that sell Les Paul and Strat clones, are baaically just Chibson's with their name on it. So, i dont see a difference for home use. A pro musician? Pay for the instrument, but if i have a $200 Chibson, or a $200 Grote, the only difference would be the headstock...sound familiar?

Perhaps it would be worth your while to delete or change the logo on the headstock. Also, the Carvin / Keisel M22 SD is well made, inexpensive and can be both hot and pleasantly warm. Make the headstock say Chibson and You then have an honest axe.

Ace's guitar had trap inlays to my recollection, not bolts. And if buying a Gibson, you still have to play 10 before selecting one. And one can always look back after you already have one. And lastly people can by whatever buy whatever they want, Gibson and Fender have list their minds on the costs of their instruments.

Yeah, I did that with an old Squier. I took out all the electronics and wired the pickups in series, then sharpie'd the board. It sounded terrible - the idea was to use it as a beater, for encores, crazy songs in the set, jumping into the audience, etc...

I dont see it that way . I see it like chibsons are replicas not counterfeits and as far as im concerned Les Pauls are supposed to be heavy. Its not as dramatic as youre describing.If Gibson has any problem then maybe they shouldnt be charging the price of a brand new car or in some cases a house for a guitar. Chibson are not bad, 3 things to do to make it good : 1- change pickup+ 2- change tuner ... you cand do yourself + 3 - go to a luthier and change fret = Amazing cheap guitar.

Or just wax pot the pickups yourself👍, got two chibson’s myself and the frets and tuners were fine, just take some graphite from a pencil and coat the nut and bridge and you’ll most likely be fine. One of the Chib’s I have is with a fake bigsby and holds tune fine! I bypass the break angle and make sure the cheap plastic nut has plenty of graphite in it and literally i’m fine and it’s very stable.

But.. it really doesn't hahahaha.As with most Gibson style designs, the guitar doesn't even stay in tune... it does have that in common with Ace's guitar hahaha. I guess in that sense they nailed it. The build quality and the components are terrible. I did upgrade a bunch of stuff but out of the box, it felt like a early 2000's low tier epiphone. I thought I went over the quality, the frets etc but I may have skipped that.

Today a Gibson Les Paul Budokan Ace Frehley 2012 Dimarzio Guitar is costing R$45,000 reais (US$8,982.04). The base salary here is R$1,320 (U$263.47) to buy one, the middle-class citizen has to work so hard that it's even scary to have such a guitar at home (robbery and robberies). A rare piece of art so to speak. For middle-class Brazilians, Aliexpress is the way to go, change the guitar metals, pickups, have them adjusted well and done. Happy for those who manage to buy an original, meanwhile, those who can't, be happy with Chibson while Gibson doesn't change its prices.

The reason youd buy the 'real deal' is pride of ownership . Nothing wrong with modifing cheaper Chinese guitars. My $1,200 Japanese Tokai Les Paul is simply a BETTER guitar than my $8,000 Custom Shop Gibson Les Paul .
