I saw him July 9 in Ridgefield. He played Rocket Ride early in the show. Three songs later he starts playing it again and stops after 15 seconds. He says “you drive the car until the wheels fall off”. There were at least two other songs where he was playing in the wrong key. He knows his playing is subpar and doesn’t care about it. I don’t care what his problems are, you do not treat your audience like that!

Good advertisement for not doing hard drugs/drinking quite as hard as these guys did. Not to be too morbid, but I've lost many friends in music to drugs. Some survive but remain damaged, rarely, some have the most ridiculous tolerance and end up fine even though they shouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised if Ace is still sober, imagine the excess + how long it lasted, add to that the fact that Ace has always been a space cadet anyway, add to that the rigours of the road and getting old.. Maybe time to retire, at least from touring. He's very obviously not bothering to practice anymore. I'd struggle to stay at one of his shows. I'm a fan of his, too. But he's practically given up. Just bluffing his way through.. It'd be cool for the novelty of seeing Ace. But the lack of effort isn't an incentive to go see him play. Actually, actively the opposite.

It's very possible that he's back to using substances, but over the last few years, i feel that he's been showing signs of cognitive decline, substance related or not. When you booze and drug as much as he has over the last 55 years, and you reach 70+, if you're lucky enough to still be alive it's most likely that you are going to have minor to moderate damage to your brain. I feel like he's being pressured to tour by his fiance and John O. It seems that they have more to gain from it than Ace does. There's clearly no chance of Ace reuniting with KISS. I think it's most likely that Ace doesn't even want to be on that stage at this point.

they have slightly different setlists in different areas. by slightly i mean a song or two. they may punch in hide your heart or psycho circus instead of modern day delila or heavens on fire. the rest of the set barely moves. partly to accommodate the light show stage stunts/ choreography and pyro but now also the backing tracks and click. i think the last time they did anything truly off the cuff was the first farewell tour. since then its been a tight rigid efficient ship.

@@thefonzkiss I'm not denying he was confused, probably pills, maybe for pain (they fuck me up!), but trying to tell a story using stage names, and not real names, might mean it doesn't automatically come out of your subconscious properly if you're drugged, and running on autopilot to a certain degree. I'm on morphine for pain management, and believe me, you rely a lot on your subconscious, because consciously, you're in a daze. Imagine being off your guts, and then telling a story about something you and your friends did, 50 years ago, but having to change all of the names. It might get a little bit confusing, especially if one of the names you need to use in place of a friend's real name, is your own real name, that you can't refer to yourself by in the story! I get it, take some morphine and nerve suppressant, have a couple of beers or cones, and you might too! 😁

Ace needs to retire or just go away already it’s like dude he doesn’t sound worth a crap anymore. And if you listen to him he’s all off time I can see why kids doesn’t want him back for any of their final shows. Which really sucks because there’s such a legendary band they should go out with the original members on stage at least for a couple of songs but listening to Ace he’s just not there anymore. And I’ve always liked a framer his guitar sound is unique it always has been but went to go see him and he acted like he just wasn’t even interested in being there.
