For modern metal tone it is perfect. For crazy experiments with fuzz and noise analog equipment is still better

I really liked that last capture! Sounds like a super modern take on the HM2, basically HM2 tone in the midrange with modern tghtness in the lows and highs. Love it! My guess is that the Nano Cortex somehow detects the source as broken and applies some sort of a "fix" in the capture

@byteresistor2 ай бұрын
Yeah, you should use the HM2 for cleans.
@ZeeEm1991Gr2 ай бұрын
I think on the HM2 -> Rectifier example, once you do the capture, the unit somehow messes with the source sound. Compare 6:38 (the actual source) to 7:12 (the "source" per the app) and then to 7:18 (the capture). That being said, the capture is still cleaner and tighter than the actual rig, so yes, the HM2 indeed seams to be hard to capture.

You see the same thing with a lot of fuzz pedals, and the HM-2 really rides the line between distortion and a really gnarly fuzz. This seemed to do a good enough job capturing it, though! The difference is there, but pretty minimal and not likely to be noticed in a live or mix setting.

The 364 hz warble-noise may be raising hell with the capture process. Especially if it is appearing on power or ground (you mentioned a noisy PSU) . I'd troubleshoot the noise source out of the rig, then try capturing it again. Noise on ground can really mess with A/D front ends.

The demonstration from 3:09 onward of the A/B really shows the crux of modeling: It sounds good, but not the same. If "sounds good" is the goal, models rule. If "sounds the same as the analog gear" is your goal, it's still not there. Completely different transient response, resonance, higher order information, just everything. The capture sounds thin and tinny while the source sounds full with way more clarity of note.

The technology and materials used in the DAE duality dx and the Nanocortex are close from each other, the boss HM-2 is from the 80's and 90's. That can affect the way those divices sync and work together since compatibility is a very important aspect in the digital era (specially if you're trying to simulate/capture pedals and amps)...

The one question I have, and it might be a dumb one. How would the capture of the HM2 then react once you start trying to dial it and change some of its parameters? Would it react similarly to the actual HM2, or would it only be all dials to the max? I'm trying to understand how this works. To get a full spectrum of say an HM2, would you need to do multiple captures of the same pedal?

And also make a set up with the buttons to have 2 channels with the same distortion from the krank, channel 1 for rythm and channel 2 with clean boost/higher volume and delay for leads? Does this has storage modulation effects to mix with the captures?? If all responses are yes, i'm running right now for one of those
