This was recorded back in 1977, & I find it to be amazing, what Ace Frehley was able to do on Lead Guitar Solos, such as this. Then-Beginning in 1978, with the release of the KISS SINGLES ALBUMS, things began to start to crumble, little by little. It wasn't Ace's fault. The guys in the Band wanted some time away from each other, so that's how the whole Single Albums thing came about. It gave everyone in KISS some "Breathing Room"...so to speak. Then came 1979. Paul and Gene wanted to go a different direction, in terms of musical styles, and Stage Apparel...and, as we all know by now, that's when the "Kingdom", known as KISS, began to REALLY experience a lot of problems. The two Main People, Paul and Gene, wanted to go with more of a Glammy look, and to do music, that was more Power-Pop, than anything else. They toned their music down, too...and, of course, people picked up on that right away, and began to stop listening to KISS. In 1980, Peter Criss was gone, but it's only recently surfaced, that he was actually fired from KISS, instead of quitting, like we'd been told. By late 1982, even Ace Frehley decided he'd had enough, and was out of KISS. Whatever will be, will be.

What impresses me more about Ace Frehley is that I recently read he never had any kind of formal guitar lessons and admits to being musically illiterate. Yet unable to distinguish the notes, chords, and keys, he's still able to create the right sounds. His story should inspire the rest of us to look past the elitist snobs and show the world what we can do. Educated or uneducated, skilled or unskilled, trained or untrained; we deserve the chance to prove what we can do beyond the barriers of institutionalized qualifications.

Myself and millions of other musicians worldwide are fully capable of the same thing, having no musical knowledge whatsoever myself, i've been playing 11 years, in many bands, without a hitch. Not to discredit Ace, he's top 5 guitarists for me easily, but you have to think that he got a lucky break meeting Gene and Paul in 1972. Plus, they wrote the songs, he merely wrote the lead for the songs, while important, without the foundation, Kiss could've never happened.

But the fluidity, aggression, string bends and vibrato are among the very best. Maybe it's because he wears a weird stage costume music snobs find it hard to take seriously. And what's more he's doing all this while he's drunk!

So true , most of the best musicians taught themselves how to play , read music and learn theory , to be a great musician you have to love music so much that you will sacrifice everything even sell your soul , and love it so much you are prepared to learn what you need to on your own and spend long hours just playing even if its on a crappy acoustic you found in a garbage bin with a warped neck a few missing frets and bent machine heads with only 4 strings .

It drives me crazy in Kiss videos when the camera doesn't show the whole Ace solo. The director/editor is acting under direction from Paul and Gene. Paul and Gene want you to focus only on them. They do it all the time. Who wants to see Paul hacking away at a few power chords while wriggling his ass or Gene sticking out his tongue for the hundredth time while Ace is playing the only technically difficult part of the whole song. As a guitarist I find it infuriating. It's pathetic. Ace rocks.

Ace #1 hands down. Keeps it bluesy none of that prog rock fluff.
In my opinions .... among the 10 best in rock .... great guitarist 👌

Paul was not Eddie Van Halen, but then Eddie was no Paul Stanley, struttin' around the stage and singing those high notes in Heaven's on Fire. I'll always have a soft spot for KISS, having grown up with their music as a little kid, along with Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. Great time to be a kid. I still love the boogie Rock n Roll, with the hard punch, and great choruses (Shout it out Loud, Rock & Roll All Night, Love Gun). I'm more of a Jazz guitarist, but I love Ace Frehley.

Ace Frehley and Angus Young in my opinion are the greatest guitarists of all time and by far the most underrated, these guys are by far more entertaining on stage than anyone else and have influenced so many of the guitarists from the late 80's into the 90's.

After all these years what's so wonderful about Ace is that he's at heart,a blues player.

One of Ace Frehley`s Best Solo`s ever !!! Just Perfect his Gibson playing back then - brilliant Les Paul Tone !!! I am very proud to be a Fan since my Childhood in the 70`s ! Ace Frehley is still too much underrated for what he plays in the 70`s ! His Gibson Les Paul playing is one of a Kind and one of the Best ever !!! His Solo`s were Magic back then ! Great Feeling !!!

i believe when one is truly deep in their art and passion for something, at moments their souls leaves their body and is free. i love watching ace's solos because i can see it. drugs aside - he is so deeply in love with music and you can tell.

This is the real kiss band. I saw them in 1976 and 1978. Ace and Peter made kiss. Ace and Peter was living the dream of being a rock star. Rock -n- roll, sex and drugs. Thank you ace and Peter for your talent in kiss.
