I am 50. I was 14 years old when this was a hit. I have always wanted to sit down and learn this song, great lead guitar.You have done an excellent job with this! Thank you! It's so much easier to be a guitarist these days. Just pull up a video, watch how it's done, plug into a thousand perfect sounds (yes kid's those sound's took us a lifetime to create and maintain and make) and hit repeat on your ipod! I had to pick up the needle and put it back to the beginning it took 4ever! Thanks!

Great job. Thanks for posting, it saved me a lot of time figuring it out by ear. :-) I had heard this song on the radio a few times when it first came out. But then a live band played it at our last High School dance of the spring, and it instantly became one of my all time favorites. The guy was playing an ES 335 for the solo, and I was floored.

Hey man that first chord is just gorgeous :o) and showing the chords to the song and the solo. Well played too. Thanks for taking the time to upload a how to play version of "How Long" is a class song.

Thanks, MrZofo! I'll be playing this song on Saturday night in Tarpon Springs, FL, and it looks like you posted this just in time for me! I've played that solo before, but now I see some things I was doing wrong. Nice job!

Great tutorial but what format video are you using or which camera? Maybe the type of compression the camera uses is not adequate for the platform you tube uses, or the signal was being distorted by some appliance while you were recording. try converting it to a different codec, good luck thank you.

Nicely done - just one thing; it's in B flat and the first chord is Ab/Bb (A flat major with a B flat root). Otherwise it's all good. Getting some video break-up in places though so maybe higher bit rate needed ...

Great video! I picked up a few points on your style besides learning the solo. Sorry if it has been mentioned before but at 1:19 you mention that the solo is in B. Seems like C to me. Am I missing something?

Thanks, this one is hard to find. Is the verse just the G# and A#?
@EHuff3785512 жыл бұрын
This kind of video distortion is sometimes simply due to dirty tape heads... that is if you are using a tape medium. In which case it';s easy to fix, by just cleaning the head with a cleaning tape which is a nominal expense. Nice job on the solo..

Excellent! Thank you for sharing that! As far as "why this happens", my guess is that your effects pedals are interfering with your camera. There was a significant "buzzing" sound that started as soon as you turned your effects on!.........You've probably figured that out by now.......I just noticed "how long" ago this was published!!!!!!!

Only my opinion but I don't find that the A# in the base of that first chord adds much to the song. When I play unplugged I can't even hear it. If you are having trouble fingering that chord you have a few options: you can simply play the G#M (G#M is in the key of Cm so it doesn't sound bad), you can finger G#M but strum only the middle notes omitting the base note altogether, or, I find it easier to fret the A# with my thumb, T, X, 3, 2, 1, X.
