Ace Kefford - Acoustic Demos (Ace Kefford former member of The Move / Ace Kefford Stand and more)

When former Move member Ace Kefford came out of rehab in the early 1990s, he moved into a flat in Bradford and started writing songs again, at times he would sit with his acoustic guitar and start recording some of the songs he had written on a small cassette recorder he owned.
He continued to write up until his accident in 2014 which caused spinal injuries followed by a stroke which left him unable to play and sing.
In 2024 Ace found an old cassette that contained some of the recordings he made in Bradford in the early 1990s, and after listening back to them for the first time since they were recorded, he has decided to let the public hear a selection of 6 of those songs.
It should be remembered that these recordings are just Ace with his acoustic guitar on a small cheap cassette recorder that were recorded soon after coming out of rehab, they were for demo use only and not intended to be released to the public
Ace hopes that you enjoy hearing these rare recordings.

Those songs were incredible. Thank you for sharing them. My favourites are 'Shanks's Pony', 'Hold On Tight' and 'We've Gotta Save the World'. The songs are very strong and Aces' voice is nice and clear. Love this post.

thanks Martin he's a great to hear these in their raw demo state. When I met ACE in 1995 and my fiance-- He played it about three or four songs on his acoustic. He must've then recorded these later -- And went on to do those three great demos with Dave Pegg at Woodworm Studios that year. I always imagine when I listen to basic demos, what they could sound like a different arrangements or whatever. I remember Chris Difford from Squeeze telling me once----- that if a song is good --- it will sound good on basic acoustic. I know what he mean....

I answered an add in the Express & Star news paper back in the 80’s that Ace had posted. Sadly I never took up his offer of a rehearsal and joined another group.
