Thanks for the great videos. I am from Ontario, Canada, and our process is different, but regardless, your videos helped me a tons. I just found out on Thursday that I landed my first Vice Principal (this is what we call the assistant principals) job for next school year. 😍

@KathleenJasperEdD Kathleen, I was interviewed by a panel of five members of the administrative staff in my first interview, and it was a success. I was invited to the second interview where I had to observe a tenured teacher (20 years) for 20 minutes and was given 12 minutes to provide a written review according to our district's TEM rubric 🥴. It was challenging but also invigorating. I was notified that I made the third round and spoke with the principal personally. I'm waiting to hear the next steps! I'll keep you informed.

Very helpful for your explanations and notably, you mentioned discipline and managing behavioral issues which is what I and many teachers are very interested in because it's no secret that for public schools the number of students w/ behavioral issues is growing since a significant amount of other students are leaving the public schools for other ways to graduate or to get high school equivalency credits. So, it'd be very informative if you can explain in detail case scenarios of behavioral issues and how a teacher and admin can manage them in a practical manner while fully considering the high workload the teacher already has which makes it very difficult to add more to it.

Thanks for sharing 🎉 grateful for your video and the words you shared. Actually I have been in different fields and this confuses my interview takers. They think that I being habitual shall quit their job too. Particularly introdused yourself question mark me not selected secondly when they ask what I must do to uplift their College as Principal. I used to reply to that first I will study and only then I will definitely bring something plausible under consultation. Since I have left only two years after which I will not be eligible. I am looking for something from you based on your experience. Education is deeply changing very dramatically due to AI and youth generally very ambitious too. Stay blessed 🎉❤

Hi there. You're very welcome! 😊 It sounds like you've had a diverse career, which can actually be a strength. When addressing concerns in interviews, you could frame your varied experiences as proof of your adaptability and growth. For the "introduce yourself" question, try to focus on your passion for education and leadership, and how your background has prepared you for the challenges ahead. Regarding the question about uplifting the college as Principal, a proactive approach might be beneficial. You could highlight specific strategies or examples of how you'd approach modern challenges, like integrating AI into the curriculum or fostering a culture of ambition and innovation among the students and staff. It's great that you're eager to learn first, but balancing that with a vision for immediate impact might help you stand out. Good luck, and I believe you'll find the right role soon! 🎉 ~Kathy Customer Support at Kathleen Jasper LLC

Any tips for thinking on your feet? I’m working on my doctorate and I’m always told to add evidence and then I get to an interview and I have to pare it down to the basics like you are explaining here. How do you process interview questions so quickly when you’re a new admin candidate?
@KathleenJasperEdD11 ай бұрын
You can take 10 secs to think. Give yourself time to process the question. That shows that you’re being thoughtful about your response. As far as evidence, use a mix of qualitative (observations, surveys etc) and quantitative (test scores, number of referrals, etc) when making decisions. Just add, “I would evaluate to determine needs or where we can improve. Then I would . I would then progress monitor by continuing to collect data and see where we can adapt programs to continuously improve.” Hope that helps 😬

Thanks for the advice. I wonder if you can give me some advice regarding the AP position. I am a spanish teacher, but I don't know how to use that as an advantage in an interview. Most APs in the building were core(Math,Science) subject teachers before getting the job so I was wondering if my possibilities of getting a job decrease because of that?TIA
@KathleenJasperEdD4 ай бұрын
You're welcome. Highlighting your background as a Spanish teacher can actually be an asset. Emphasize your ability to connect with diverse student populations, your understanding of language acquisition, and your experience with cross-curricular skills. These qualities can be invaluable for an AP position. Additionally, your unique perspective can bring fresh ideas to the administrative team. Don't hesitate to showcase these strengths in your interview. Good luck! ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC

I am a specialist teacher and a lot of the leadership experience I have is not building-wise but definitely departmental leadership. Is it okay to speak to this in a leadership interview?
@KathleenJasperEdD Жыл бұрын
It's okay to discuss your departmental leadership experience in a leadership interview. Highlighting your expertise and success in leading within your department demonstrates your ability to manage and inspire a team, which are valuable leadership qualities. ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
