Just wanted to make a mention *The Battery CANNOT be used as a powerbank* It’s a publication miscommunication. Anyway it’s NOT A DEAL KILLER of course. I didn’t notice at first and seems no one has mentioned it. I think because no one is really using that function 🤣 The cable still functions to charge the battery and it allows a pass through USB port if you wanted to charge another device. Also! It’s compatible with a Rofis as a discharging cable. I want to be as transparent as possible. Again, I don’t think anyone is buying this for the power bank function 😅

6:24 I use the red filter as a lens cap. The W30 is so bright that you run the risk of causing eye damage due to accidentally turning it on. The owners manual makes a point of warning you about this and recommends disconnecting the battery while in storage. The red filter dramatically reduces the output while letting you know that the light is on. Additionally, the outer lens of the W30 has an anti-reflective (AR) coating that is easily scratched by anything metal (keys, coins, utensils, camping gear, etc...) so if you are storing the W30 in a backpack (or any other place for that matter) it is best to put the filter on to prevent damage.
@WillEDC4 жыл бұрын
Quisp that’s an alternative use. I actually use a rubber camera lens cover for my w30. Unscrew the taillcap for storage.
@makerofmanythings84474 жыл бұрын
You could also use a button magnet and stick it to your shorter 18650 cells to make a perfect fit. And this also works well with lights that will not work with flat top cells. I have done this for years with high end lights and cheap lights with ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM..

The red lens filter is for preserving night vision, red light does not dilate the eyes as badly as white or green/blue light. So when you turn it back off you can still see well in the darkness.

@@WillEDC Yup. Ohh now that I have your attention, would you recommend going with the 6500k cool white or the 90CRI version? The 4000k version is yellow as hell which I'm not really digging. The cool white would provide more apparent brightness correct? But the 90CRI would look more like sunlight if I'm not mistaken. I'm leaning towards the 90 CRI even though it's $30 more, unless you know something I don't?
@WillEDC5 жыл бұрын
Mark Green unfortunately i haven’t seen the CRI version. Is there one on KZbin? I agree with you on the 4000k! I almost got that because 5000k neutral is my favorite “white” tint for my eyes and I was worried that 6500k would be too cool. The 6500k looks more warmer than the indicated specs at least for my eyes. So I made the correct choice for me. The only thing I can think of is find an online place that could take comparison shots for you. Or a good return policy. Or even request acebeam themselves ? They have a KZbin account.

It’s a must have, I’m guessing it’s a similar technology to the laser headlights on some cars. Any idea on the candela rating? Awesome vid, new sub here😁👍
@WillEDC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub. The candela rating is insane. 1.45 million cd. Million lol By comparison the x65 mini is 492,000cd. It’s definitely concentrated. Anything close would be a tactical purpose or daytime use. Yeah I think this could be used in the day. Sweet spot for me would be 100-500m. Anything closer the beam is too small and intense. Anything farther I can’t see lol. Of course you could use a monocular/binocular/scope with this. I’ll probably post daytime shots and underwater(pool?) shots in the future.

Great review~ Can you run the flashlight directly to a powerbank/car charger?
@WillEDC5 жыл бұрын
Rich Lovn thanks Rich. Sorry you can’t run the light off an external source. The battery cell is what is recharged by a micro usb cable. But of course the cell needs to be out fo the flashlight. One advantage about not having a micro usb on the body is that the light is divable with a really good water rating. Just wanted to reiterate that I made a mistake with the powerbank feature. Originally acebeam stated as such but I couldn’t get to work in which they said they made an error that I cannot do that feature. Not a deal killer by any means imo
@richlovn5395 жыл бұрын
@@WillEDC Thank you for writing...great info. I've seen those versions in where you plug it into the side as you wrote of. I was wondering if you knew the actual tested max beyond what they recommend in volts/watts/amps to build my own more powerful battery (external for now until I can compress it).
@WillEDC5 жыл бұрын
Rich Lovn I’m sorry. I don’t know that info. I think you are asking if you can increase performance by altering the power variables to the light. If you are asking about an external power source for longer than 1hr 45min. Then.. Theoretically you could remove the body tube and just mount the head with the tripod mount screw. Then you would need to attach a wire to the center for the positive and the edge for the negative. Then to a power source that matches the included battery which is 3.7v and 20amp. But actually I don’t know how many amps. Based on the 5100 capacity and 1hr 45 min stated runtime , I could estimate it’s around 3amp pull on the battery. On acebeam website it recommend no less than 10amp capable cell. Since the low battery voltage turns red at less than 3v , you would need at least that amount. 3-4.2v and 3 amps with a 10amp capable cell or energy source. I would not go higher than 4.2v. I’m not even sure what a long runtime would do to the flashlight. It definitely does not come close to overheating but I wonder the longevity of the laser components. Any modification you are running at your own risk. The light it out of production so I’m not sure if I would ask any type of modification. What application are you trying to match that you need longer than 1.5hrs in a single shot. Why not just swap out the battery?
@richlovn5395 жыл бұрын
@@WillEDC Thank you much for all of your intel and time writing. Yes, I was trying to find the highest power of battery to swap to but I wanted to go beyond that. I appreciate your work on this. I understand about being at my own risk in possibly ruining it and any tampering would void any warranty. I was thinking of making my own housing and heat-sinks with fans/cooling system for long-time use via running the highest capacity batteries in parallel in my own battery holder. Thank you again for your time and info...I'll save and study it. What I'm doing is wildlife videography and putting the diffused (with that overhead florescent light panel mentioned cut to fit over the lens) long-throw beam(s). Thanks again~
@WillEDC5 жыл бұрын
Rich Lovn sounds interesting. Good luck Edit: yes a battery holder running parallel cells probably the easiest way to do it. And I’m sure it you wouldn’t have to be too picky with the wire gauge as the current pull isn’t so extreme. In terms of heatsink, In your research look no further than cpu cooling. It’ll be the best resource to look at. Water cooling will always be the best while fan cooling is ok. The fins on this flashlight and most lights are actually too short and bulky to be anything but decorative. You need surface area. If you used a thermal adhesive you could put some cpu fins on the body to have a heat transfer material to release the energy to the air. But even then I feel like if you had a wet rag wrapped around the body that you refreshed with cool water, would probably function even better. But then the water is a consumable variable unless you had a closed system with a pump and tubes. You could buy cpu water cooling parts and just thermal paste onto the flat section of the tripod mount area. The heat will start there first.

Well it’s very cool, no doubt, but really, how practical is it? It strikes me as something you get and play with for a while until the novelty wears off and then it becomes a $260.00 drawer queen.
@WillEDC5 жыл бұрын
That would be a legitimate comment. To be honest I still carry it. It’s just a light flashlight. I carry it just in case and I don’t feel burdened by the weight or size. It’s actually more lighter than some of my aspheric lights. I have used it to point out a drone in the air. Also to point out nocturnal animals in the trees or certain fruit. I feel alone it’s a novelty but it can pair nicely with a flood light. I use it as well for daytime exploring as well. It’s bright enough for certain daytime use. There’s a tactical purpose as well. I’ve seen it being use by the HK police against rioters.

Virgle Phillips I believe it doesn’t. Usually mcd takeaway bag is the best to set a flashlight fire. I’ll make sure to confirm it doesn’t. Sometimes it’s not the lumens or the lux. Often times is the heat created. I recently was testing which of my small lights can erase frixion ink which relies on heat to disappear. I tested 2 1000 lumen lights and one creates heat to work. The other not.
