To be fair he’s a legend that has had a crazy run and several hits throughout basically all of his active years, but there were alot of mainstream artists keeping hip hop alive while he was doing his thing. Earlier on there was Wu Tang Biggie Pac Tribe Called Quest DMX Run DMC NWA Slick Rick Snoop & Dre, etc then later on there was Nas Hov Ja Rule Nelly OutKast/ Dungeon Fam , Pun / Terror Squad, 50 & G unit, Ludacris, etc. He is a legend for sure like I said, but he didn’t keep hip hop alive alone. He was def one of the first if not the first hip hop artist to cater to the women though and help bring more female fans to hip hop in general. He was also unique in having that type of appeal towards the women despite starting out making more aggressive music.
