Acer Chromebook Spin 15 Screen Replacement

Hello how are you. I have been repairing notebooks for more than 20 years and the first thing I always do before removing the first connector is to disconnect the battery. It is very easy to short something. greetings.

I just ordered a screen replacement for my 713 (similar form factor by the looks of things). Should arrive in a couple of weeks, but I got to thinking after watching this and reading "official" directions....apart from not being able to disconnect the battery why does the screen have to be removed from the body of the laptop? If you turn if off, and close the lid, then the screen back panel could be pried off. Then disconnect the one connection. Leaving panel on keyboard remove camera, wire around edge, etc. replace everything on new panel after swapping to keyboard position. Snap back panel on. May try this....

Thanks for this! I need to replace the screen on an Acer Chromebook Spin 713, and this is the closest I can find. Hopefully the disassembly is similar. Can you provide a link to the iFixit page that you used?

I need to do the same on a 713. Acer wants $550 to fix it... NOPE! So did you do your 713 yet? Is it pretty much the same?

@@Shooter_FPV I bought a screen, but it turned out to not include the bezel, and since the screen and bezel are glued together, I realized I needed a complete assembly. I returned the screen and tried to buy a complete assembly, but one that would maintain compatibility with a stylus was over $200. I ended up finding a used 713 on Ebay for $200. The new one is in excellent condition and has an i7 processor and 16 G of RAM, so it's a good upgrade. I still have the old one, but wasn't able to fix it for a reasonable price.

@@rkennedy Hmm... I am an IT tech for a school department, and my boss found something on eBay for about $130. After what you just said, I wonder if we're going to get every part we need. I'm totally sure I can replace it, but now questioning the order. Guess we will have to wait and see. I appreciate your quick reply... thanks!

trying to replace the screen on my cp514-3h. where did you source the replacement screen? the hits from a google search seem less than reputable

It was a while ago, and I don't remember. It was a vendor I'd never used before, but the screen is still working.

i hate working on friggin laptops. but what i hate more is working on laptops that best buy worked on previously😐

Not a big fan either, but even worse are smartphones. Some of the screws are so small you can barely see them.
