Bought a brand new lenovo gaming laptop and not even a few months later it's screen goes crazy. SAME, at first it shows it’s fine but it starts escalating and the entire screen is mangled into an abomination. Updating or resetting the drivers didn’t work so this made me really happy

Well that was the display but it may be just a bad cable connector, in that case you don't need a new display. Just push in the back of the screen and see if it changes, open up the laptop and try to move the cable.

I almost pulled the trigger on one that might not have worked. Edit: it worked. Replaced my SO's laptop screen and fixed the problem. Had some trouble getting the bezel back just right but I haven't heard any complaints.

Thanks. I may need to do this now. This morning the screen (the computer had been running normally for hours before this) suddenly showed a green translucent band across the bottom 10 percent. The mouse cursor is visible through the green band. The mouse functions - I can launch programs by clicking the icons (Windows 10 on a fairly recent Lenovo Thinkpad). This is the start of my amateur's investigation into the problem. As the computer can still be used, I shall not rush to buy a new screen before checking whether it may be a software error, or a screen physical connection malfunction. Lenovo 330-15IKB

I have exactly the same issue ( thin top band perfect, rest of the screen faint and striped) on a HP laptop. It's been that way for around a year and always corrects itself in about a minute so it's just a minor nuisance. Does anyone know what the precise fault is with the screen itself ? ( Because I REALLY like to save cash). It's just I remember the old Gameboy screens losing bands and fixing them by briefly running a hot soldering iron tip over the actual hidden solder connections strip and making the connection good again.

@@arunima1376 Hi, Sorry no I'm afraid not. Only the obvious one , get another laptop that works ( In my case an Asus K55 that was in mint condition for £16 ) oh , and don't buy a "cheap" HP product. They're designed to pack up on you. The internal battery had already swollen up like a pop tart after only two years . Everything about the Asus screams quality compared to the HP product - HP, The ultimate in disposable cr@p.

I have a unobook 2 ter and mine isn't doing this. Mine looks like everything has been airbrushed. I disabled the high contrast and all it did was turn the screen dark Grey. My background was gone as well. So I turned the high contrast back on and it all came back, but it's still looks airbrushed. I click on my documents and it looks fine. Although some of my pictures still look airbrushed and outlined. But the rest looks like they should. Please help quick as I need this fixed asap. Thx

that was an easy fix, but not everyone has access to replacement screen, so we do the tape method to try and fix this type of defect.

Mine is a dell Latitude 7390. When turned on the display is fine for a minute, then the flickering starts horizontally at the top until u cannot use the screen. I can see the dell logo from start up flash up while flickering. i connected it to a secondary monitor to check and its fine. Is really the screen the problem? or just the cable connecting from mobo to screen?

Exactly what I'm wondering too! Mine works for like 1 min then the lines appear for 2-3 mins then its ok for another minute and keeps going like this! I think if it's only the cable that's malfunctioning it would be a waste of money to replace the whole display!

Sir, I have this long, ongoing problem with my ACER ASPIRE 3 (had it since 2020). So the screen glitches, okay? The screen glitches. Colors are green and pink, when it glitches it moves upwards by a few inches, leaving a frozen afterimage of pink and green. It displays what's currently on the screen and when I move it, the glitched screen is unaffected. It only got worse when it started to move up and down and sometimes I see the glitch bring in two screens in the middle, I can see the bottom of one afterimage and the top part of another brought together in the middle. Can you please help me? This has been going on for a few months, dude... plus, it started AFTER I UPDATED THIS LAPTOP to WINDOWS 11. My friend recommended to bring back Windows 10.

My acer laptop broke after I dropped it, Found the charging cable. Booted it up to a white and green screen, If you shook it it would refresh the screen in a glitchy manner. Finally I ripped off the plastic casing on it the screen fell out and now it works. But when I start it I do have to make it a little bit.

My external monitor is not on clone screen mode. Do you know how I can get it to clone screen mode because the main laptop screen is white like yours I cannot see the menu to change the settings from the external screen to put it on clone screen mode if that makes any sense 😀

If there isn't a key in the laptop keyboard that changes it, usually an FN with two rectangles, you can right click the empty area of the desktop on the second monitor and go to display settings and change it there
