The full size HDMI port is a big deal for professionals that just want a seamless experience when they have to make a presentation. Most companies will just have an HDMI cable for you to connect to, and like Robby said, not having to dig around for an adapter or dongle is a big plus.
@runnergy4 жыл бұрын
To bad I can't get the HDMI port to work with any of my monitors. I get a "this monitor is not compatible" which I find hard to believe that the HP 24f would not work as it is one of the most popular monitors on the market. I bought 2 Spin 713's just make sure and neither works with my HP, LG or Sharp monitors. Oddly they work during setup and then as soon as I re wake the Spin no dice. Stops working. And its not just the HDMI, but also the USB-C to external monitor. Everything else works fine. My Samsung Galaxy Chromebook has no problems any of them.

Great review. Just got one of these yesterday for $150 off of FB. I was going to wait and see what Black Friday would offer but after seeing this review I went for it. My Acer celeron 15.6 CB was a little long in the tooth and I couldn't pass it up for the price. WOW what a difference. It was worth it on just the speed difference alone, plus the build and display were an upgrade. Highly recommend and thanks Robby for helping me make up my mind.

just purchased one, and my sentiments are just about the same. I actually enjoy this keyboard more than the keyboard on my Macbook pro 2015. It is a beauty and relief to use, because I am super picky about it. This is my first chromebook ever. The only experience Ive had with one in the past is being a counselor working with my elementary school students. This chromebook exceeded my expectations. I do not like the laptop speakers much, but my Macbook speakers blew out and I havent had a clear sense of hearing a thing since. I hope that this will last me a good couple of years. Great review. I bought this chromebook on June 27 from Best Buy. My first chromebook and I love it, sub par speakers and barely acceptable camera and all. At $629.00 I thought it was more than worth it. Now Best Buy has it for $100.00 less. I tried today to get that discount but I was told they only do 15 day price matching unless you are a preferred customer. You need to buy "x" dollars in merchandise over a period of time to qualify. Still, one hundred bucks off would have been nice. All things considered I am still very happy with my purchase. But if you are on the fence, at $529.00 , in my opinion, you will be hard pressed to find a chromebook with more bang for your buck.

So I've had mine for nearly a week now. I actually cancelled my order for the new x360 HP when I saw the specs. I'm going to be honest here, and don't get me wrong - I love trying to get the fastest Chromebook around. This one, with an 39k (just barely below 40k) Octane rating may just be the fastest Chromebook (not sure, someone else would have to chime in) stole my heart. Now I did listen to Robby's full review about the build quality so I knew what I was getting into (but keep reading). I can just say this - if you are going for one of the best screens out there, love the screen form factor (it reminds me of working on my original Chromebook Pixel - but keep reading...) then this device may be for you. If, however you are looking for a device that you want to wow the folks around you - one that is a solid (i.e. Macbook,, Pixelbook, or Asus C302) chunk, this is NOT for you. The entire chassis reeks of cost cutting. Mine has a sharp edge down the right hand side just below the volume rocker. You can squeeze it with very little pressure and it is just "mushy" . I am going to keep it. Do I wish I hadn't canceled my x360 order? Yes, because as far as specs goes, I tested the x360 at BB two weeks ago and got a 37k octane rating, and the HP is a solid chunk, much better quality.. My desire/quest for the fastest and latest steered me wrong. So, my suggestion? Try and find a shop that has one, and compare it to the x360 HP and decide for yourself. I know Robby talked about it being not the best quality device around, but probably could have been a bit more stern about it. Honestly, I keep going back to my core 16GB Core m7 Asus C302 just for the fact that it isn't THAT much slower, but it much higher quality.

the looks of this thing were a huge deterrent to my buying it. After working on it for a full day I reckon it was the right choice despite it's a bit heavier and bulkier than others. I will always treat usability over design from hereon in. Fantastic piece of kit this is. For me the keyboard needs a bit getting used to as the key travel is shallower than everything else I used before, but I might need only a week to get back up to speed and everything else is just waaaaay snappier than I expected. @tomcollingwood53004 жыл бұрын
@@ruthlessog9098 no, the speakers are not great. It does not bother me much as for anything I really care about I just use headphones or now and then a bluetooth speaker. For casual things - youtube etc no problem. For a laptop with such a superb screen it would have been nice of course for them to have been better given what a great media-consumption device it is. But the price is still unbeatable imo. Folding laptops have a bit of a dilema I think when it comes to speaker placement. Unless having speakers firing off top and bottom or on the side (probably the latter most ideal which tablets can do nicely) they are often firing in the wrong direction..... These ones are placed on the bottom which means they seem a bit distant when the screen is folded over into cinema/presentation mode (or whatever it's called!). When in standard position they are pointing down towards the desk etc which is also not ideal.....but it does not put me off the device at all. There are ways round these things - whereas obviously the screen is the screen!

I've installed only a few which all work ok I can see animation, video and hear audio with the exception of 1 app that I need for school the most important app (i'm not a game player or tv watcher) I can see and hear all the videos on it as needed for each section however the reader ?? there is no audio. On all my other devices that same app works 110% no problems. This Spin 713 vs Pixelbook Go with core M3 and 8gb RAM vs the Flex5 with 8gb RAM when it's released. Which one wins? Of the three I have only seen the Pixelbook Go. Nice build, limited ports. The best laptop speakers I've heard along with those on the Thinkpad X1 7th and 8th gen. But the internals of the Pixelbook Go are last gen compared to the other two. I do watch a lot of KZbin videos, but not music. So the speakers would bother me if I couldn't hear the KZbin videos. Other than the videos, I need the Chromebook for work using multiple tabs.

It happened in November 2019 and continued until until the very end of May, and then everything was fine. Both the local storage and Google Drive were having the same slowness. I have excellent Wi-Fi speed so I know it is not that. Also there was a thread started with other people having the same thumbnail loading issue. A few days ago the problem started again. I am using a 2015 Pixel 2 Chromebook i5, 8GB RAM, 32 GB storage and HP x360 14 with 8th Gen i3, 8GB RAM, 64 GB storage. They are both having the same problem loading thumbnails. Asus just released the 2021 version with enterprise grade connectivity and performance. I'll be looking for your review of the just released upgraded Spin CP713-3W equipped with Intel's 11th gen Tiger Lake EVO i5-1135G7 - 2.4 GHz. Intel boosted the graphics to level G7 with Iris Xe giving it nearly double the execution units from last year. Thunder Bolt 4 connectivity includes display port over C. Better WiFi and a 256 GB NVMe discrete SSD. Hope they will be fixing the touchy track pad though which likes to phantom launch as if you'd tapped or right clicked when only scrolling. Very annoying and will cause me to return it. Also both Thunderbolt USB 4 Type C ports are on the left side what a dumb thing to do. IMO they should have ditched the USB-A on the RS and substituted at least a USB C power inlet port. Speakers are still on the bottom but DTS audio is added along with a "smart amplifier". I would like to see this as a 3:2 aspect FHD laptop CB without the spin feature. With the much lighter more portable Macbook Air M1 available at $750 with discount I have a hard time justifying a similar price for this premium CB.

@vince72454 жыл бұрын
@@76Betito Yeah, that's what was disappointing, it's a slower processor, but Chrome OS is supposed to run just as well on less. If I was into graphics and gaming, I wouldn't be buying a Chromebook, and i5 is supposed to be better at handling stuff like that. So even though it's not as good as a processor, it's fine for web browsing, office and some Netflix and stuff like that. But that's just what I read, I'm definitely not an expert, and I would love it if someone could clarify just how much of a difference it makes. I'm currently playing around with a borrowed Lenovo 300c 2nd gen, it's the Chromebook the kids at my school are going to be using, so I'll let you know how it compares to that if you like once I get it and play around with it a bit. @@76Betito I've been playing around with it since yesterday. I remember hearing how easy it was moving from one Chromebook to another, but I thought they meant because you have most of your stuff in the cloud, but I was pleasantly surprised everything from my other Chromebook literally appeared exactly the same, even the find key which I had turned into a CAPS LOCK key. The only things I had to set up again were the Android app settings. But anyway, so far I'm pretty chuffed with the whole thing. I haven't really done any work yet, since I am on my summer break. I did open up a few shared spreadsheets and stuff which we were using during the quarantine, they opened up nice and quick and I was able to move through them much more comfortably and faster than on the Lenovo 300e I have been using. It's plenty fast for me for now, but hey, the faster the better I have to admit. But from what you said above, if you can get hold one from the States with better specs, for cheaper, and you're not in a hurry then why not? I don't know how much you need a Spanish keyboard or whether you can get one with that configuration from there? That would be the only thing I'd possibly consider. 🤷🏽♂️ Ah, I almost forgot. The speakers aren't very loud as everyone keeps saying, but I use an extension called Volume Master which helps boost the volume a bit. I still need to hook it up to another monitor and stuff like that, but my initial impression is very positive.
