It will be great to see how these turn out as I've tried cuttings from my Japanese Maple with no success. At first I thought it was just the temperatures in Glasgow but knowing your based on Edinburgh gives me a bit more hope. My Chinese Elm and Fukien Tea Bonsais seemed to root well...just not these maples. Will need to create a makeshift greenhouse for them now. It's just very windy in Glasgow right now. Subbed for updates 😉

I was in the greenhouse today checking them out. It looks like they all failed. I hope to do an update video soon. Thanks.

@billsbonsai aww man, that sucks. My friend has one of the 4 foot maples in his garden. Plan is...long cuttings (even woody ones, but we'll soaked)...air tight container but well watered for humidity. I think these are the hardest to propagate. We'll see 🤞🏻

Is it safe to prune now
@billsbonsai5 ай бұрын
I wanted to do it weeks ago but was too busy with other work or the weather was bad. It's only a prune anyway, not major work so I think it safe.

It's not katsura. That's a maple. Probably Japanese maple. Nice video about propagation though. Katsura has round leaves.

Thanks. Yes it is a Japanese maple, Acer palmatum 'Katsura'. Check out this link: www.rhs.org.uk/plants/94932/acer-palmatum-katsura-(p)/details
