I have this model variant with Intel i5-10300H and RTX 3050. Such a good budget-laptop! I upgraded this laptop with SSD Nvme WD SN750, 16 GB RAM sodimm Corsair Vengeance. Hey, you can, as we show in the Video, use all 3 slots simultaneously. There is, technically speaking, not really a limit. NTFS, which is the filesystem of Windows 11, can handle up to 8 Petabytes per Volume, but there is no way to put that much data into the Nitro 5 :). Currently I think the most you can do is around 12TB since 4TB per drive is currently what consumer SSDs will offer. However, if you happen to have VERY deep pockets there are 16TB SATA SSDs around as well. But you can get about 2 to 3 Nitro 5 for that kind of money.

Can I ask, what is the actual max memory that can be installed in the AN517-54-72Z3? Acer claims the max ram is 32 Gb, but Intel claims the I7-11800H can handle up to 128 Gb of ram memory and while looking for information I found a company MemoryStock claiming and selling 64 GB for the aforementioned laptop. It's all very confusing when everyone gives you different specifications and I am upgrading the ram and a 2nd PCIe SSD and want to get the most ram I can safely handle. Thank you in advance...

My question that I can't find an answer to....is there a limit to the amount of storage you can install? I had thought 2TB was the biggest drive i could install, but I saw in the video you installed a 4TB SSD SATA. My question is, for both m.2 nvme and 2.5 SATA, how high can you go, and if there really isnt a limit, what max is reasonable for under $300?

Question : can the second nvme ssd burn components below ? since the nvme is unprotected, and i understood it can get quite hot. I wonder if some kind of protection should be added between the motherboard and the second nvme. That aside, great thanx, i subscribe :)

I ordered the wrong type. figured whatever you said at 1:10 was important though i couldn’t understand it. so i told the store i had a nitro 5 and said any ddr4 ram would worknso i got the wrong kind.

​@@metroditeNope, its just fine. But ram speed goes to 2933mhz from 3200mhz because it's not identical ram (even with same 8 + 8 gb ram). I prefer replace OEM ram with kit

Hey was there 2 slots for RAM? It says in task manager that there is 2, and only 1 is used (8gb) and I wanted to add another 8GB stick for dual-channel performance and more RAM in general, but it's not clear from the video if there's 2 or just 1 slot for RAM

No not a noticable difference in battery - a new RAM stick would only have a small increase on powerdraw, so I don't think there's anything to worry about :)

I don't think that the Nitro 5 comes with any 4GB sticks, and it says in task manager on my Nitro 5 that there's 2 slots, one is used by the shipped RAM stick. he prolly upgraded from a 1x8GB stick to a 1x16GB stick

You notice how the base has some heatsinks for the ssds. The heatsinks also have a thermal pad attached to it. I been wanting to replace the pads on mine as they seem dirty and worn out. Where can I find such pads my good sir?

In the video, he replaced the RAM stick, but I want to add another 8GB RAM stick ontop of the original 8GB stick that is already in the laptop. Hey, well yes, but at the current SSD pricings, there is just no reason anymore to buy a HDD. The performance aside, SSDs provide other benefits like being way more resilient to shocks and other environmental influences. They also draw less power and are completely silent, while HDDs may be audible while being accessed. You're totally fine to get a rather cheap QVO or dramless SSD for that purpose though.

Hi, my question is not about gaming, but about video making with the Davinci Resolve program. I have a Nitro 5 with a Nvidia Geforce GTX graphics card. In order to use the Davinci program, you need a good graphics card. So I can't understand why the program doesn't work with the Nitro 5. It works with a computer that has a Intel Iris Xe graphics card but not my Nitro 5. Just want to know how do I get the Davinci Resolve program to work with Nitro 5?

How would one add vram if their laptop has a AMD Ryzen 5 4600H? I have tried and tried. My set has 8 gigs of ram but the vram won't go over 512 MB. I thought I could boost it up. The paging file does not help and the BIOS does not have the option to set it differently and the regedit tricks won't work either.

I upgraded my ram to 32gb on my Acer Nitro AN515-51. Followed this tutorial to the letter, all went well, however when I've popped it open Ive accidently disconnected the D drive from the mother board and I can't find a tutorial on how to re-plug it in. I didn't realise the slight difference on the back of yours vs mine so don't think I should have opened it up that way. I've found a photo online that says it plugs under the ribbon and to remove that, plug it in and then re-attach the ribbon, but how! The D drive with plug is connected to the otherside of the lid, hence why it pulled out when I opened it as the motherboard is on the otherside. I didn't click this tutorial has a different model to mine! No tutorials I've googled show my version of acer so they look different. Does anyone know a tutorial somewhere for this? I'm so bummed out.
