don't be upset over the names of trees. japanese maples are not called japanese maples in Japan. we decided to change the names all all trees. Trees in other country's like china india and africa are renamed to latin names or English. They do it cause it will sell better. love you vid. ty for sharing

Sure, here is the translation: Hello friend, I am interested in how you grafted this maple, and whether the rootstock was Acer pseudoplatanus? All the best from Serbia😊
@maplecollector43983 ай бұрын
Hello. I didn't graft the trees but they are grafted to Acer pseudoplatanus.

Hi there. It would also be helpful to share how you maintain & care for your JM collections. Type of soil, watering, fertilizer, pruning…etc. your trees look healthy & amazing. Do you also practice root pruning? Just curious.
@maplecollector43985 ай бұрын
I don't like to give that type of advice because it varies by regional conditions.What I do may or may not work in your area. I do root prune on trees that I want to keep in the same pot.

Hello, I love your channel. I was very excited when i found out you live in California since i wasn't sure that you can collect maples on containers in California. I have couple of questions regarding water and shade. I heard the main reason For maples burning in CA is the hard water. I live on Burbank, CA and wanted to know if you are using any water filtration for your maples because of the hard water in CA. My second question is that what % of shade cloth do you think we should use in California? I was thinking 30% shade cloth, but I would like to know your opinion since you are way more experienced. Thank you in advanced for your time and your content.

Hello and thank you! While I do live in California, it's also a big state. Burbank is hotter than where I live, in the Bay Area. You can still grow maples although your success with different varieties may vary from mine. The water where I live is actually fairly soft. If your water is hard, you should be able to add some peat moss to your potting mix. That should help to keep the soil pH down. An R.O. filter would help to soften the water but I wouldn't use a traditional softener that uses salts to soften the water. A 50% shade cloth would certainly be beneficial, in your case.

rain water will help. I use a 1000 gal pond just to catch the rain for my plants and trees. I live by Chicago

Hi Mr. Maple Collector, can I somehow contact you in pm? I am maple fan from Moldova (cultivating at moment ~100 acer cultivars) and I have some questions regarding cuttings, etc. Have no idea how to send pm in youtube

You may ask questions here. I will answer what I can.

@Maple Collector some maples today are only available in USA , and American nurseries are only delivering inside US. Is it possible to buy some cuttings from you for grafting? To send it via express-mail?
