Thanks for the review, it was really informative. I placed an order for mine from a german store and it’s been waiting to be fulfilled for 3 weeks now and the expected date keeps changing, seems it’s out of stock everywhere. The samples don’t look that great ( although i’ve downloaded a raw footage from another channel and it looked rather impressive, which is odd), but I’m still curious to try it. I own the Xreal Beam Pro and the videos are passable at most ( when not too many frames are dropped).

Same here I've watched that video from other channel and got impressived with my Meta Quest 3, I guess in good lighting condition the quality is good. Originally, I want to get the Canon R7 plus RF-S 7.8mm dual lens but it's just way expensive and since I already owned A7 IV and I prefer a compact 3D camera but I may endedup get Canon if the Acer one turned out to be bad.

@@TheEndHK I wonder what's the deal really, as in the scenes here there was quite a lot of light but the quality was disappointing. We'll see :) I was thinking about the Canon one but it's expensive and quite big as well. For less you can get a Kandao VR cam , although it's still expensive.

​@@3DVR180anAbudgetI downloaded Kandao 3D raw samples and the quality is just too low like a 720P video consider it's a cheap and dated camera. The problem on R7 is shooting 4K only and divided into two eye so in the end you got only 2K but the lens design seems doesn't fully utilized the whole sensor from a review I read, the actual quality might be only at 1080P. It's quite disappointed and unacceptable for such a price.

The specs says that overall bitrate is 60M. It might be activated only when in drastically changing scene. But even 60M seems not to be enough.

Great review - real shame as I was hoping for a compact handheld that could do stills and video for vacations but need top quality. Ah well we'll have to wait a bit longer.

I shoot video on Qoocam EGO 180/60 ~50Mbs. It would be interesting to compare it with Acer and how it looks on Q3. Unfortunately my 3D TV is old LG, so I won't be able to see 4K picture quality.

A built-in battery that depletes quickly and the bit rate issue are both big disappointments. I'm only interested in using the camera for shooting 4K video when traveling, but not sure this one is worth getting now that I switched from the Fujifilm W3 to a Xreal Beam Pro.

The key decision maker here will be how important 4K is in the equation, because the 4K/30 mode DOES look good, but at the expense of what you mentioned.

I personally miss an external microphone input on the camera. It is very susceptible to wind noise.

You have a strange problem, on the Acer website the recording bitrate is 60 megabits.

It is a strange problem, could be the make I got (Dec 24) which is later than some others (Oct 24), not sure if something was changed

Try using another memory card, because the files I have are recorded with a bit rate of 65 mb.

@@jonathansabinvarietyfilms You can try to format it with the video camera itself or with a computer. This should not happen, contact support, maybe they will recognize this as a defect and you will exchange the video camera for a normal one.

@@Voron_33 No I think it's just because of variable bitrate. if you are shooting in a fixed position it could get even lower.

Acer doesn't support any of their 3D products so forget any upgrades or support from them. It's sad really.

I don't think that's quite right. My impression is that they have no support outside of their SpatialLab ecosystem. Like Spatial Video, macOS etc....

Your information about bitrate is either wrong or out of date. Other users of the camera have recorded videos with greater than 60 Mbps.

The model I used was from Taiwan and had a date of Dec. 2024, unlike others which were Oct. which perhaps makes a difference. I’m getting the US version and will be making another video to see if there are differences.

The specifications of the Acer Spatial Eye specify a bit rate of 60 Mbps. But it looks like the camera has a VBR.

Yup I’ll be testing the US version next will see if any improvement. Regardless the 30p mode maxed out at the same rate in the same conditions so vbr shouldn’t be the reason

It’s the latest firmware they have online, I forget the number but I already checked, 1.2 or something like that
