I got a 4 gallon I figured that’s a good enough upgrade compromise without making the tank too damn big.

*************I found getting the tank to fit works much better if you replace the front motor mount bolt with the spacer instead of the back. The directions included actually look like it calls for that anyways.

The cross bar bolts to the front bolt of those 2, NOT THE REAR BOLT! The bar does not line up in the pockets

PS.... if you haven't bought this tank yet, DONT!!! It's the most ill fitting pos I've ever tried mounting. Get a Clark 4.7 they fit like a glove

@@AZdirtdog Wish I would have read this sooner. POS is being kind. 4 hours in and I and I still can't get the tank aligned. I may just toss it at this point. I hate this thing.

@Nascarrr48 I have gotten use to the extra weight it's like second nature now. I really don't know how I lived with out it.There is 2 things I don't like about the tank and those are: 1)it's hard to find a tank bag to fit it, the XR650R tank has holes in it that would come in handy. 2)you can't squeeze every last drop of fuel out of it like the OEM one, if you switch to RES you will run out of gas quick (about 10-20 miles)but when you look down the gas cap there is still 1/2 gal of fuel left?!?!

nice they arnt as easy at the clarke 4.0 tanks got to get back to the r&d ing this weekend

@ dirtrider169-yes the plastic tank is lighter than the steel one but remember it is a 5.5 gal. so when it is topped off it is much heavier

You removed the wrong bolt at 5:00 min in. The spacer is supposed to mount to the front most engine mount bolt...

Good call, thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully it will help someone out with their install.

Thank you very much for posting this! You have convinced me to get the same tank - due to the larger capacity and the dual petcock. I also have an 06 650L. Have you had any problems since installing - with regulator, fit, or leaks? Thank you once again for posting this!!

Thanks for the video man, But there are many many mistakes in the instalation, you dont need to force any part of the tank to instal it.

when the tank is new it is a bit stiff, I think i mentioned in another video that after it was on the bike a while it was easy to pop off and back on. its just the first time you put it on it's stiff

Well, then I got something different from Acerbis. I just started to change the tank. The very first part can't be installed. Unfortunately I can't download a picture to show, that the holes in the rear mounting doesn't fit to the threatening inside the tank. 3mm or 1/8" out of line. And not centered either!

@@ShotgunBoogieGunWork Just got my tank, and same problem. I guess I could mount it with just the 1 bolt in the tank? What did you do?

Its really easy, and once the tank is stretched out it comes on and off pretty quickly. It's only hard the first time or two. One thing I would recommend considering is evaluating the path of the fuel hoses. I had trouble getting fuel from the right side because the hose wasn't running "down hill" sort of speak. The bike wouldn't suck all of the fuel out of the tank. Up until the day i sold my bike it still couldn't drain that side of the tank fully due to the distance and the fact my fuel line ran a little "up hill". It is a gravity system so just keep that in mind. Oh, also I use automotive in line fuel filters on it. The bike would only run until it ran out of the fuel in the line. After looking at it I found that the fuel filters I added were to big of a volume that would not get replenished fast enough for the bike (no fuel pump). So spend the money and buy motorcycle fuel filters the small ones.

how many miles do you get per gallon of gas? i have a '94 xr650l and i am only getting 30mpg :( help
@ScottEals9 жыл бұрын
William Jones I am getting around 170 miles before reserve in the summer with everyday riding (no long warm ups with the choke wide open). The engine won't suck the fuel from the reserve side to well. It's because you have to make the fuel lines travel "uphill" to get to the carb. So basically once you hit reserve your walking.
