That's how I am with the intro to Omikron: The Nomad Soul. Every time I hear that music, it takes me to some far off destinations of innocence & happiness. Why oh why did we have to grow up lol

Played a lot of Dynamix games as a child. ACOD slipped passed my sonar somehow, I stumbled on it a few years ago while looking for Aces of the Pacific. Anywho, I guess finding it later in life is better then never. Love this game.

I played this game when I was 13 or 14. Finding a single troop ship or seeking and finding one in a convoy was sooo exciting! Great 90 game!

I still play this and Silent Hunter: Commander's Edition at least once a week. They don't make sims like they used to! LONG LIVE 90s DOS GAMING!

I played this game a decent amount but I didn't really understand what I'm doing or what my goal was. I remember I was impressed by the graphics and the mood but didn't get too far in the game. Those water effects are really impressive!

Look at all the extras they put in back then! If only Ubisoft was patient enough to let the devs take their time polishing the Silent Hunter games.

The Win95 enhanced version I think had the first voice-command interface in a game ever. Not that it worked very well.

Amiga500 döneminden beri red baron, Aces of the Pacific, Aces of the europa ve Aces Of The Deep hepside zamanına hatta şimdiye göre bile oynanış olarak mükemmel ve yapımcı dynamix iyi işler yapıyordu.

I played this on my first computer bought while stationed in Germany, It was an AST Advantage Pentium 100 multimedia computer. Back when memory and hard drive space was uber expensive. The game was designed for a 486 chip so my pentium ran it quite smoothly. Its a shame the developers dont really make simulation games like this for modern machines. Silent hunter is about as good as it gets, devs more interested in crap like minecraft or fortnite.

When it comes to DOS games, this and Silent Hunter are my choices. Silent Hunter because I get to play the Allies and this one because I wanna play Blue Danube when chasing convoys

Hey there's someone else in the world that still jumps between these two great games? I canned SH3/4/5 and everything else - I play SH:CE and AOD almost every week! Both offer great experiences, but as an American I gotta say I'm a bit more biased toward the fleet boats :)

Played many hours late at night in the dark...use to sneak in the middle of the convoy in fog and start using torpedoes and the deck gun before the destroyer escorts got wise..bonus was sinking a battleship escort.

@jsthlrd4 жыл бұрын
Voice commands are only an option for the Windows 95 version, which unfortunately you won't be able to play outside a virtual machine or retro computer using Windows 95 or 98

was there anyway to really be successful and sink ships by 1944? Also, the snorkel seemed useless from a convoy stalking point of view because it's picked up on radar. I assume it's only value is to keep the batteries charged during general (2 knot ) cruising? I also never really used the FAT torpedoes properly. By they time they were around, I couldn't get close enough.
@johannmckraken93995 жыл бұрын
By late 43/early 44 the tide had definitely turned to the allies. You had to be very lucky to even get close enough to make an attack. Mid 44 on missions were all but suicidal and you just tried to hold on until the type xxi came along. The type xxi was a potential game changer but you still had to be very accomplished to get the most out of it. By then crew morale and training was a real handicap.

There was a phonograph on board! You could select a number of period tunes to play. I think even Tipperary was one of them, like in Das Boot.
