When I watch these I sometimes wander about the contractors building them back in the day, all their efforts that went into construction, they must have thought these cathedrals of retail would be around long after they were gone. Little could they have known that many would be torn down within their lifetimes. It might be quite interesting to get an interview with builders of a mall to get their perspectives on the decline and fall.

I have seen a lot of these "dead mall" videos here and other channels; however, nothing has yet to hit me quite as emotionally as near the end of this video. The part where he is walking towards the end of the mall where the building has been busted out where the doors once were, and the light from the sunset is flowing in. Just chilling. I hope he took some actual photos of that as it could be an award winning photo.

The Euclid Square Mall is close to Cleveland, but it’s located in Euclid, Ohio. I grew up going to the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, but I came to this Mall, too. My Dad works right beside the Mall so we would meet him at the mall after he’d get off work. I remember the seating area with the fan-like sculpture. I remember waiting in there for my Dad and thinking it was so cool since it was in a ‘pit’. Lol We stopped going there in the 90’s when the Ashtabula Mall opened up, but I still have memories of this Mall. I knew the Randle Park Mall and the Richmond Town Center. I pray the Great Lakes Mall beats the odds and stays open for years to come!

On a side note, after some research and watching many videos, I think the formula for a mall does still work, but it all about location, and you can't have more than 1 mall within about a 100 mile span, I notice most dead malls, or struggling ones, have other malls nearby, or in neighboring towns/cities.

One of my first jobs as a teenager was at Winkleman's at the Euclid Square Mall. It was owned by Petrie's, a woman's clothing store (MJ Carroll brands) popular in the 80's and into the late 90's. They went out of business just before the turn of the century. The store was located near the Diamond Men's Store and the shuttered location is clearly shown at 6:22 - 6:30.

I have probably watched this video all the way through 3 or 4 times. Every time, without fail, that last part of the half-demolished space mixed with the vaporwave music in the background mixed with the sunset shining through the remnants of the entrance brings me to tears. I never once saw this mall in person, as I live hours away in the St. Louis area, but what I would give to have seen it now. Anthony, if you ever see this, this is my favorite video of yours by far. This is the only video on KZbin that can bring me to tears. The cinematography is absolutely stunning and the abandoned-feel of the mall gives me a feeling I don't think I can experience anywhere else. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can hit me as emotionally hard as this video can. Nice the area had a role in WWII. Where I'm at (Mesa, AZ), they trained pilots for WWII. Mesa had Falcon Field and Williams AFB south of where Superstition Springs Mall and Power Square (outlet mall) are located. Both operate as regional airports. From what I heard, the delay in completing the Superstition Freeway east of the mall was from looking for old artillery.

Let's not forget that there's newer malls around, like Legacy Village, Beachwood Place, and I believe just recently in Orange Township, I think there's one that just opened about a few weeks ago, and I know that name was mentioned, but I keep forgetting it. Parkwood or something? Anyway, yeah...the days of indoor malls are certainly numbered. Look at some of them here on the west side of town. Parmatown Mall is gone, it's now replaced by Shoppes of Parma, which is almost all drive-up stores now. Then there's Westgate, which also was transformed into a similar shopping center. However, the west side of Cleveland holds on to their malls better than the east side, apparently.

@holeheadmole isn't complex at all... every bit of what you stated, every excruciating moment our society has to endure with respect to cultural differences between whites and blacks, blacks and whites... is at this point, sorta necessary. a race which has been completely beaten, subjugated, and disadvantaged doesn't just turn up middle-class when that oppression ends. it takes time, quite a bit of time actually... decades. a deep cut can happen in the blink of an eye but the scar it leaves can take a lifetime to fade... sometimes, even longer.

I remember this mall. I have been in it several times as an older teen and early 20’s in the late 70’s 80’s. My dad worked at Lincoln Electric as a electrician at the time. The Great Lakes Mall is not what it used to be either. I now live in eastern Pa and go back home in Lake County, Ohio every 5 years. Sad to see these malls due off. They were fun to go to as a kid back in the 1960’s to 1970’s.
