When I first tried one of these a while back it impressed me of someone's butt than impressing others in my never seem to work right.. after all this time I'm having it worked on I'm going to give it another another try I think it'll be great in certain social situations where my vision isn't so good any more depending on the lighting and might use it while someone is guiding me when I go to certain event so I can actually see things better again... Like I said I'm going to give it another try I have high hopes this time around.

A cellphone with VR goggles + a suitable VR magnifier software can do similar and it's much cheaper.
@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
It could have a similar affect. However, there aren't any VR enabled software and hardware, I'm speaking of remote and controls, that have come out yet that would replicate these types of assistive technology. At least not yet! I've tried with another regular amazon bought VR headset with an app that was supposed to do something similar, but it wasn't even close. I hope someone develops it though!
@selcuksancak3 жыл бұрын
@@LiveAccessible There are some VR headsets with a remote controller too. I guess the company has to focus to improve their (VR magnifier) software cause cameras and the processing capacity of the mobiles are improving really fast.
@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
@@selcuksancak yes, there are VR headsets with remote but none of them are compatible with VR magnification software. So all the different types of technology need to work together as a unit to be able to be used in the same way. And the development of that is what is lacking.

@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your vision and what you're comfortable with. Because of my vision, it's much easier for me to use a screen magnifier like windows magnifier- and it's free. Acesight VR is not meant for walking really. That would be more of an AR, not VR experience. The difference is that AR, you can see part of your surroundings and VR the headset encloses your whole field of view. Zoomax does have another device that is called just Acesight that is a AR device. Then there's also eSight and NuEyes. Those may be good options to explore if you are looking for something that will help when walking. I hope that helps! 😊

Hello / Are these glasses useful for patients with Stargardt and macular degeneration?
@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I am so sorry for the incredible delay in getting back with you. So acesight VR as well as all the other headsets for low vision are really something each person has to try. There are going to be people who have MD and stargardts that it works for and others who it does not work for. The best way really is to find a place where you can try it out and see if it works for you. I hope that helps and I wish you all the best! Carrie.

When you zoom in, high end smartphones have this image stabilization feature that compensates for the little micromovements your hand or head makes to keep the image more still for you. When you zoom with this device, do you feel like the image is any more stable than the eSight vr headset for example? (as I actually have the eSight 2, I believe it is)
@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
I felt that it was more stable than the esight 4. I didn't have both of them at the same time to compare them, but I had a much nicer experience with the acesight VR. Part of it is definitely that the screen is bigger with the acesight VR, and that may be a factor for me. But they all need to do better with that. I have yet to try the Iris Vision though. :)
@cullyomeara69183 жыл бұрын
@@LiveAccessible I have central vision loss. Cone dystrophy. So these VR headsets generally appeal to me the most, isolating vision from ambient light, increasing acuity. I really think it would be tremendously helpful (for mobility and depth perception) if one of these companies would just incorporate TWO cameras with stabilization software to provide stereoscopic /3D vision, while still enabling all the zooming and high contrast features. You could even have 3 camera sensors. 2 for depth and 3d vision and mobility...and a central one for reading, TV, or classroom uses. What do you think about suggesting these things to these device manufacturers?
@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
I love that idea! If I get a chance, up I'll definitely share that. Perhaps someone is already doing it!
@cullyomeara69183 жыл бұрын
@@LiveAccessible I'd be really interested in how the community would respond to such a suggestion. I've done a really exhaustive search for this particular feature and I have yet to find a single company implement it. Also, have you ever tried "pinhole glasses?" They act in the same way as the ocvluder that the eye doctor uses with the little star pattern of tiny holes in it. They block out other anglea of light and limit the glare effect on visual acuity. And, I've never tried them, myself. But, I could read tw entire lines further down on the chart with the ocvluder over my eye. So, it occurred to me that these silly pinhole glasses might actually be of some benefit.

Haha! Another update I messed with my headset again before getting a new one and doesn't seem to be malfunctioning anymore. So this is good. I will say however I wouldn't spend money out of pocket to buy one of these unless you have an extremely low vision I mean very extremely low to the point where you wouldn't be able to watch TV hardly at all without one of these. It seems to be okay for viewing everyday things and objects and the like. Obviously it is not meant to be a device when you're mobile. If you're stationary it's great for certain things and tasks. However, I noticed that even on a lower brightness setting this headset displays my TV too bright for me to see the picture clearly and the headset I could obviously adjust the brightness settings on my television but I really don't like messing with that stuff then having to turn it back if I wanted to just sit closer to the television so on so forth. So I will say it's not complete garbage however for watching TV they need to go back to the drawing board. It's a step in the right direction for less expensive device but they can do better. I would say I would give it 3 out of 5 Stars currently simply because I know that they can make it a little bit better and still keep it the same price. So I'm not completely disappointed with it anymore but not completely happy with it either.
@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
If I remember right, there's a way to change the brightness on the acesight VR. Have3 you tried that? If that's not enough though, I'm not sure, and I'm sorry that you are having to go through that. Yes, it is definitely not for moving around and honestly, it worked well for me, but I just don't know that I would want to wear it for that long. haha. At least it got a 3 out of 5 though!
@Blindy_Sama3 жыл бұрын
@@LiveAccessible I played with all the different settings and it's great as a video magnifier to see things from a distance and things like that but it really didn't work well with things that were glossy that reflected bright light or the television at all. There should be there said that I might have gotten a faulty model so we shall see. I gave it a 3 out of 5 because it's not completely useless or anything and it would have some very good applications and very specific circumstances but for what it's supposed to do I was not impressed. But it isn't a total loss and it's one of the many devices that could still benefit people in a lot of ways but I would not tell people to pull money out of their own Wallace to buy it.
@Blindy_Sama Жыл бұрын
So even though there's a new channel I'm going to post a further update for this specific device. I got it back they said it was just fine. First of all I can see digital photos and videos way better on my phone. No matter how much you adjust the focus will you still have double vision... I know I can make things brighter at work as a video magnifier and all honesty it doesn't help you see much more... It is possible my eyes have gotten worse since when I first got the device or could be the type of lighting but I personally feel that the device really just isn't as great as they make it out to be... Unless your vision isn't quite that bad yet comparatively speaking.

Here is an update sorry but it's not very positive.Try one of these out about 6 months ago and the basic test went okay. Update I got one a couple weeks ago and I'm not sure if it's me or the machine but seems to be on the fritz turns off way before when it's supposed to and doesn't filter color very well. It also does not seem to be very useful for watching television either. Only good for certain circumstances so far and the one I have seems to be a piece of junk. Will be trying a brand new one fairly soon hopefully it's just the device that I happen to have already is a lemon and that the next one I try out is a good one. Will keep you updated but for right now I don't recommend anyone wasting their money on these just use regular video magnifier or video magnifier app on your phone for basic stuff it can be used for viewing things if you are in a stationary position but it seems to have trouble with certain types of lighting. Like I said it could be the device that I happen to get when I try out a brand new one fresh out of the box we shall see. Until then I don't recommend people waste their money on this product or the e-sight either. I think a big problem with these products is that they aren't doing enough testing with a variety of people with different visual problems and taking their input seriously. That are the simple charging too much for something that should be a very simple device or their skimping on the parts and pieces they could use and still overcharging for something that does very little. I will keep everyone updated when I get to try out a new one.
@LiveAccessible3 жыл бұрын
I agree and disagree with you. When it comes to price, we need to remember that there is only going to be a small group of people who these types of devices work for. Because of the limited demand, the price will be higher. Also, because a lot of governement and different organizations also help pay for this type of device, they feel that they can charger much higher than if their target market was just individuals. These are just a few of the problems I think and believe is the problem when it comes to assistive technology. Also, these companies are managed by smaller groups and don't have as much research and budget for the testing that I think they should go through. They often use outdated technology and this is also another factor when it comes to these devices. however, it does work for some people and the thing is, if it works for them and they are able to get it, then they will be happy enough with it. It really just depends.
@Blindy_Sama3 жыл бұрын
@@LiveAccessible I certainly do agree with you on the budget thing. I do believe that they sometimes end up having to use outdated technology and research. I would be more than happy to help do research or rather be a test subject for furthering these technologies. I'll be more than happy to give some of my time to give them what I think would be really valuable input. I think the more of us persons with low vision or types of blindness who beta test these products the more they can improve them. I do agree with you that these companies have high prices because they know that government organizations and the like will usually pay for them.. however, I feel that this is predatory and I dislike that. There's not a lot we can really do about that I still think the prices are too high for what the products offer respectively. Don't get me wrong if these products happen to work well for somebody then that's grea. I however have not been overly impressed with any of the headsets I have tried. I have been very well pleased with various handheld video magnifiers for certain things and some video magnifier apps on my Android device. So for certain tasks the smaller devices are nicer and a lot more convenient however they all have their flaws. One of them being that would almost any reflective surface or in any area where there's a really bright artificial light source that seems to mess with being able to see clearly through the device. Or rather seeing anything that is glossy I should say. I also had a big problem watching television with mine the headset I mean. I have been in contact with the distributor for this product they think that I might have a faulty device even though I did get mine working they still think that mine might be flawed so I will give more input when I try out the one that they will be bringing with them soon. It could just be an item that doesn't work well for me. That being said if it turns out that I had a faulty device and the one that I try out soon works well then I will obviously make an update about that.

Hi there! Thanks for watching and for your comment. This is actually one of the most affordable low vision wearable devices out there. There are some that are around $6,000. They're also some organizations that will help you fund this kind of assistive technology as well as crowdfunding. I know it's difficult when they are expensive, but they're always ways to get them. :-)
