Well done review! I have used the esight 3 and now use the esight 4 and your critique covers the product well. You could also mention that wearing it for an extended period of time, the visor gets very warm. I have been an esight user since 2019. You need to give it a break to allow your head, forehead to cool down. The batter life is limited to a little over 2 hours. I have had to purchase additional batteries to make it through my 6 hour day. Batteries have to be charged every night for use the next day. It is helpful for ARMD when magnification is 10x 0r ab0ve. even thought it doesn't eliminate the blind spots in the middle of the vision. I am able to figure out what should be in the blind spot most of the time.

Hello Sam. I Have been subscribed to your channel for a while now and I love what you do for the VIP community, being part of it myself. I have been using eSight since 2016 and with every version that comes out, I immediately watch your review on it! I was in the webinar you did with eSight about a month ago and enjoyed it! I currently have eSight 3 and as much as I love that version, I can't wait to upgrade to eSight 4. I have been waiting for them to do wireless for a while now and even suggested it to them many times as I learned to use eSight 2 and then eSight 3 during my college career the past 4 years. Looks like a big improvement in design. The thing that bugged the hell out of me as time went on with the eSight 3 was the remote being wired to the device just because of the components that were housed in the remote and that it wasn’t that good when it comes to build quality as far as durability is concerned and that can certainly become an issue when you’ve got a wire involved. Multiple reasons why an accident might happen, and if that thing drops, it doesn’t seem to take much to mess it up. They design it with some mobility in mind, throw in some cheap accessories that are supposed to help with that but I would recommend finding alternatives to. So yeah, glad they went wireless. Though I’m concerned hearing your critique in regards to some of the bugginess there because I definitely saw that in version 3. I can empathize with those writing the software for it as I’m a computer science major and the things I have yet to learn can feel daunting at times when I think about it, but people are spending quite a bit here, they have a right to expect a smoother experience.

Hello Sam, I have a quick question about the use of this tech. Online when you search for bioptic devices to drive a car, the esight 4 comes up. Can this be used for driving?
@claytonclendenny71664 жыл бұрын
My biggest critique is the lack of efficiency of w auto focus. As of now the auto focus is basically useless. I took my glasses to work yesterday doing computer work. I teach junior high school so I need to switch between the computer screen and students as well as anything else around the room. The auto focus does not do a good job whatsoever on refocusing quickly and crisply. For the price of these glasses this should be standard. Once the picture is focused I will say the picture is probably more crispy than the previous model but not by much. As of now I considered the previous models ability to focus quickly and efficiently superior. I really think the new model should have kept the same style remote with the rollers rather than buttons. I realize software updates can be made I just feel like before this was released glaring things should’ve been considered. There are things I like a lot about the new model such as the ability to switch batteries quickly and being wireless. Unfortunately I have not been able to log into the app. I still have a week left to decide if I want to keep the new model or stick with the previous model. After just paying off the previous model I feel like it should be quite a step up to start paying off a brand new model.

I tried the previous version of the eSight and didn't like it. My biggest issue with it was the amount of hear it generated as I used it. Using it for a few minutes was fine, but prolonged use was real uncomfortable and made this the wrong choice for me. Thoughts? Other issues I had, No OCR. I do think that the "wireless" capability is awesome, and the batteries being reversible make it easier to use when inserting the batteries.
@adampalmer87904 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, the heat issue has greatly been improved with the new design in the way that is positioned on your head and how far away the heat is from your forehead as the very front of it releases the heat and it’s not touching directly to your forehead. It would be worth getting a trial. OCR has potential to be a Software update in the future.

@@enigmatl00 It seems like these companies are actively trying to bring these prices down, and in fact would probably prefer it as it would create mass adoption. They've reduced prices by 50% since their earlier models and will continue to do so. I want to ask you and anyone else who may have influence with these developers to please start asking about one feature. I don't like if it just snaps from 2x to 4x to 8x zoom. That is just jarring. And I think it's disorienting to a lot of people. I think that it really needs to be a smooth zoom and a precise zoom that should zoom in as much or as little as you need at the particular time. you know, kind of like how your camera phone zooms when you pinch in and out, your camera phone doesn't go from 2x to 4x to 8x. It goes precisely as little or as much as you want. I just don't understand why nobody has called for this and why none of the devices have this. It seems like a relatively simple feature, a no brainer. Precise dialing of zoom is more like walking closer, if you just have these stops, 2X, 4X, 8X, you had better be looking exactly where you need to look or when you dial it in, you're lost and it seems unnecessary.

I have a dress this as well. I also think the manual focus should be a lot more simple to use it any moment like in the previous model

@@claytonclendenny7166 I did not know the eSight3 had a smooth zooming option. I was not interested in using my life savings for a wired model, looking like cyclops, so I decided to wait. Now a wireless model comes out and they make the zoom feature worse? I will keep my savings and look at all the other devices as well (some are much cheaper) and once I am truly happy (even if it takes another 5 years) I will only then purchase a model as these companies (I am sure) make massive margins on these glasses!

Hendré Harris valid points. I just want something lightweight and effective. Also long battery life.

Does this model get real hot in the front like the eSight 3 does after wearing for several minutes?

No, I didn’t notice anything like that. It definitely wasn’t out of the ordinary anyway

Good to know the technology is progressing. However, the price of the device is outrageous. In Europe, eSight 4 costs almost 8000 EUR. Many of my handicapped friends would benefit from eSight, but they could never afford it, living on their social benefits 200 EUR / month, which is barely enough to pay their rent and have some cheap food. I myself am a visually impaired programmer, also doing some electronics repair work using magnifying glasses and a large computer screen. I earn enough to afford eSight, but I would be scared to use it knowing that a small accident could damage an 8000 EUR device. Poking around with a hot soldering iron can turn out to be so much more expensive than the device I'm repairing. Reading eSight specs, I don't quite see why their device should cost more than a high-quality VR headset, which usually costs around 1000 EUR (including also game controllers and many built-in cameras and higher resolution screen and FOV than eSight offers). Knowing that their target market are people with low income, I think these devices should be subsidized by the manufacturer themselves, balancing their other, more mainstream product prices to avoid losses.

This video is good for a middle age person with low vision but does not address the elderly with AMRD at all. My 96 year old mom is not going to be using a smart phone or any of those features. She won't be able to see the lights on the batteries. It assumes a young person, not the elderly who need simplicity.
