You should always poor and mud your pan and tile the shower floor before running any tiles on the walls. And don’t be a professional rookie and use a piece of fern strip to run your tile it if you pour your pan right and install your tile right you should be able to run your wall tiles right off of your floor tiles for a perfect installation every time!
@jakekothrade64492 жыл бұрын
Looks nice. One thing I would like to point out is that when you changed the plumbing drain where it connected to the vent tee, you made it a tee wye, that now doesn't meet code. You shouldn't have a problem snaking a 2" tee to start, but the reason for code compliance is the water level now can block the air in that tee wye. The vent is lower than the drain. Then it acts like it isn't vented. IPC and UPC plumbing codes address this. Functions like an s trap.

Tile installation... The final job looks great. However, the tiles were not properly installed. When you install an interior tile you should have a minimum contact area of 80% between the tile and the thin set (NOT LESS). Exterior tiles and tiles subject moisture (i.e. Showers) should have a 95% of contact area (ANSI A108.5). You can also refer to the current version of the TCNA Handbook.
@SuperVPro3 жыл бұрын
100% contact is better than all of that can you please explain what you're talking about?
@Oneguyinc.3 жыл бұрын
I’ll explain all your mortar needs to be spread in one direction perpendicular,then tiles need to be placed and worked side to side (perpendicular) to knock down the ridges that’s why you use a notch trowel and lastly tiles need to be vibrated or tapped to release air bubbles if you do not do those three things you will not get 95% coverage!
@SuperVPro3 жыл бұрын
@@Oneguyinc. What you're talking about is something that has to be done if your thin set is very stiff my stuff is very wet including the mud everything squishes out without a problem. That's why floating your walls with mud is the best way is way and the longest lasting .

Great job other than creating an "s trap" when you moved the drain. That thing your calling a sweep is a combo. The short sweep on the Sanitary tee is designed like that on purpose. It prevents the trap from siphoning dry when the shower is draining. Honestly it shouldn't be a problem because the shower will drain much less water volume than the previous tub did. However in the future if you use a combo in place of a sanitary tee on something like a tub it will be an issue causing sewer smell if they ever fill up the tub and drain it. Bathroom looks great though. The work including the plumbing is really clean.

Tell me, if I plumb a double shower system from a single 3/4” copper supply line and with a 5’ linear shower drain taking it from the standard 2” to 1 1/2” pvc and sweep it into the former bathtub drain (with no vent now) is it going to drain properly? Code only states that the drain is capable of moving 1.5x the supply volumetrically. Your thoughts?

What is the size of the shower? And what is the tile on the back wall - I love it! Please do a video on materials cost for this. Please don't take offense to this. Yours are quickly becoming my favorite videos on home improvement, but the background music, while you are talking and explaining things, is loud and distracting and many videos have muted parts. Still very much worth watching! But please get rid of the music. Also, is there another way to finish the curb that will not leave such sharp edges? While they are sleek looking, i take care of an elderly man who is at risk of falling and the last thing I want is to add something that could potentially worsen the injury from a fall. So, as pretty as it looks, i think I need something rounded.

Good video. I was getting ideas on how it is done before I quoted someone to do it since it looks like a lot of detail for a naïve plumber like me. I would like to see comments on a new thing I am finding now on most Hotels I am running into (I travel a lot). The idea is to offer the option to install the water controls on the entry side that way the user can adjust the temperature before getting into the water stream usually in the opposite side. On this video, looks like this plumbing could have been done while the walls were open. Yes, I know, its a lot of plumbing but, from personal experience, I like this option as well as multiple heads (one on top coming down from the ceiling and another from the wall with a selector to either/both heads).

Yes it is the best way to install it last because the shower Pan gets used to most and gets nasty the most and it could be easily replaced. Without messing up the wall or the pan. You can literally peel off the tile and put new one on top. Also all the paper is used to redirect water so it is very necessary. It is called aqua Bar b.

So just that backing paper is your water proofing?
@SuperVPro3 жыл бұрын
Yes that's only for the walls but the Pan is 45mil linner good for 40years and it will tack all the Shrinking and expanding. Is something that regard or any other roll on waterproof in waterproofing cannot.

How much cost the whole bathroom ? Thanks
@SuperVPro Жыл бұрын
About 18 to 24 thousand. That would be a great deal for you. Others companies would charge 35k witch is still a good cost.

Why did you decide to do the walls first then the shower floor? What if the grout fails in the corners and water gets down to the pan. I did not see a pre-slope. And do you not like to use cement board? Just curious not a hater
@SuperVPro2 жыл бұрын
This is a different system that we use over here in California that last 80 years. The water is supposed to go under the tile whatever does not make it into the drain and there is weep holes underneath that mud so cracked grout or not no problem at all.

At the end of 2 days I didn’t see a shower door, toilet,vanity,grout,paint. There are some things done wrong in my opinion, but it irritates me at the misleading 2 days. I can picture some homeowner watching this and wondering why their bathroom isn’t done in 2 days.
@SuperVPro3 жыл бұрын
@@travlangley1 they can have it for the right price and not everyone can do it so quickly and there is nothing wrong with that . Also 16 hour day are not cool to do every day only if we have to.

@@SuperVPro 16 hour days? Uh ok so 4 days! STILL Good enough, no need to Stretch it.

Oh yeah real quality!!Two days my ass! I’ve been doing remodels for over thirty years and even the easiest,perfectly planed bathroom can’t be done in two days! You might be bluffin the home owners but not the pros.anyone that brags about doing a bathroom remodel in two days is just saying hey I can make dog shit look good with sprinkles and I do shit work! FALSE ADVERTISING

Is the wall tile suppose to be put into the the pan? I thought the pan was tiled first then walls with a little gap between so water wouldn’t be sucked up wall. I’m just a DUYer asking.
@SuperVPro3 жыл бұрын
It can be done either way some people prefer one way some another the biggest reason why I do it this way because I do a shower in A-day .And when I started 20 years ago this is the way the old school guys did it as well. And I've never had to repair one of those showers.
