You are lucky to have the silver-aluminum model...Unfortunately the black model is made out of plastic and feel really bad whenever you have to lift the laptop. Every single time I hear squeaky plastic and the whole thing feels like a chromebook. T480 is miles ahead in terms of build quality. T14 gen 5 in my eyes in not an upgrade, but rather lenovo's attempt to sell us a cheaper laptop only because of 2 RAM slots? Also, despite countless complaints on their forum and on reddit, they still soldered ports onto the motherboard and then bragged about repairability, lol.

My T14 G1 (AMD) burns battery even when off (and in 'linux' sleep mode). I leave it off for a week and it's down to half. Lenovo's BIOS is clearly doing something when it should be off. Fully updated BIOS. Even leaving it overnight and you are down from 100 to 90%. Lenovo refuses to acknowledge the problem and always blames nonsensical reasons such as "drivers".

This is a long known issue from back then when it was released. I am not sure if there's any resolution for it. I was following the discussion on the freedesktops Gitlab instance and have never continue reading for 2 years now. @karakunai_devАй бұрын
@@jameskirk3 Jokes aside, the problem mainly lies with their BIOS programmers whom are still quite new and had to deal with spaghetti implementation of the power states. Lenovo US had someone experienced sent to Lenovo China because they weren't able to reproduce the battery leak at first. He himself attempted to fix it but since the BIOS is a borrowed mess they always reuse from precious gen of which is not a good indication of R&D and QA. Ironically, this issue does not seem to affect other brands or even their Ideapad lines and it have since been difficult for this one person to convince his upper managements to do something about it.

Windows(x86) laptops usually lack or suffer from one or more of the following: battery life, quality of screen, speakers, keyboard, touchpad, lack of high speed ports, poor chassis build, noise/thermals and repairability is often neglected just like Apple products. Apple otoh completely rips people off with ram and storage upgrades but their laptops are otherwise good quality and balanced machines with fewer major software issues like windows laptops suffer from such as high battery drain in sleep mode. Lenovo isn't helping the Thinkpad brand because for the price even Razer builds higher quality and performance laptops and that's telling something about your business model of not appealing to consumers at all.

I'd say the T480 (not ths T480s) was the last good one, because it had the replaceable and hotswappable battery. I miss that... My T25 (T470 25th anniversary edition) is near perfect.

T25 is awesome. T30 (just a rebadged X1 Carbon) was horrible.
