I believe that too. It's why when I had to put my childhood cat down I was fairly proud of myself for having what it took to stay by her side to the end. I did find a bit of comfort in the very cute vet interns. Apparently my cat had a heart defect so bad they don't normally see the cat still alive. So the vet asked if the interns could listen to her heart first. They were very excited but being very respectful. I was glad they were able to learn something. Flour had a nice long life of 18, 19, 20 or so years. She was around so long we kind of forgot how old she was. She did completely freak out my mom by staring at her the whole time. I told my mom she leave but she stayed for me & the cat traumatized her. Good kitty.

I thought the same thing. If they'd cared enough, it may not have saved the piglet's life in the end, but he wouldn't have been cold, hungry or in pain. People often discount a baby farm animal (many animals really) without even considering it's an infant-an infant born because people decided to breed its parents. Too few people consider that- when they'd not leave a human infant like that.

i was scrolling the entire time to see if anyone shared the same sentiment. when he drove to the farm to pick up the piglet and explained that he was gonna take it in, i thought it was just a couple days old. but then seeing how big the piglet’s sibling was let me know very quickly how long it’s been since its birth and the day they finally decided to intervene. also the vet checkup confused me as well?? this piglet could have definitely survived. as an owner of a pet, farm animal, or whatever it is, you should be able to tell if your animals are ok or not. they should’ve noticed that as soon as the mother rejected the baby, they should’ve separated it from the family and hand fed it. clearly, with the sibling being three times his own size, it should’ve been clear that that was an unsafe environment for the little guy. it makes me sad knowing that there were many preventative measures to be taken :(

This is why it's so important for a mom to accept her children, nothing replaces a mom's healthy milk and love.

It's important to show the REALITY of taking care of very sick babies. It's not always hunky dory n the end. Taking care of critters like this is an emotional rollercoaster. It's sad but it's nature and it's real. Thank you sir for giving it your all!!! You have an AMAZING heart!!! Thank you for sharing I'm sure this was difficult...

Thank you so much for taking care of this little soul during his brief existence. Unfortunately there are breeds of pigs that are prone to heart defects and are usually rejected by the sow as newborns. Thanks to you this little one can say his entire, yet brief, existence was full of love and kindness.

You see, most people wouldn't even bother. And they say you made an effort but at the end it doesn't matter. Wrong. That poor soul would die alone, rejected by his mother, ignored by his brothers and sisters, cold and alone. Ends matters. He died loved, someone took care of him, tried. That's the important thing. We can't save every single one of them, I myself buried countless animals but I know at least I tried. God bless you, man, you are giving me huge doses of inspiration lately!

I blame the piglet's original owner. How cruel of them to basically just not give a damn about the baby for weeks, let it be bullied by the bigger sibling and waiting till it was too late to be saved to actually do something about it. Some people have zero common sense and decency.

@@sharraleigh I blame noone. In nature that's the rule - some survive, some die. It's just nature. Like crows throw away weak chicks from the nest because they can't feed them all. You may give all of your effort and some would still die. The point is they died loved, not alone, not forgotten.

You did everything you could, and you made such a difference. The comfort and care you gave him on his final day allowed him to leave this world in peace, with a full belly, in no pain, in a calm and restful way. May his days playing in the fields of heaven be happy and full of sunshine. It was his time. Thankyou for the time you gave him - I'm sure he is so grateful to you. 💖

Poor little piglet. I'm an NICU RN, little piglet needed lots of care. Perhaps he/she had a heart defect or was just too little and immature to survive. Thank you for providing comfort to this little creature.
