Achievement Hunt: Fairy Ball - Super Auto Pets

Weird that it's been out this long and I haven't done a new Star pack vid! Anyway, straight to work trying to get one of the new token achievements: Fairy Ball. This guy is the curled up version of Fairy Armadillo, although to access it you need 2 in-shop hurt triggers which can be a bit awkward in the late game...

I proudly announced getting all of the new Star Pack achievements to Rev two days in and then maybe a week ago realised I was a big dum dum and had forgotten about the fairy ball! It really was a grind, definitely a tough balance trying to get the ball early without taking away one of the levelling methods. Can't wait to see the run you finally tick this one off with!

I finally got this achievement a few days ago after having spent dozens of attempts trying. Most of them were customs but ultimately I went back to star pack opponents only so opponents would be easier and more predictable. Ultimately I got it with leech tuna and adding velociraptor and piranha in later. Interesting difference between our strats is that at least in the main run you turned the armadillo into a fairy ball close to the end while I did it around mid game to reduce RNG and free up the 5th slot ASAP for a pet I actually wanted to keep. Also I didn’t use the starfish itself because I find it too awkward with the struggle to get pills.

that’s probably a factor into why spino was changed into +2/+3 but maybe i’m reading too far into it

Could be. Maybe it was because turkey was switched to +3/+2 a while back.

Fairy armadillo used to summon armadillos on faint based on how many times it was hurt

The 2nd sabertooth wouldve given u the 2 attack u were missing ): (obviously a spino buff wouldve also done it but thats more luck, and the mamoth wouldve likely given more stats) Saber is better than orca most of the times because mamoth is like the best faint pet unless u REALLY want more summons

Just got the fairy ball last night & finished star pack. Been trying some custom exclusive achievements today and wow, jersey devil is a problem

Yeah it is a really horrible experience atm. I still do see a lot of people going for the exclusive achievements though, maybe partly because it's so easy to abuse jersey or hippocampus etc just get them.

It does. 2 leech sucks will give you a permanent ball

But a permanent ball will render the self scaling useless. I usually just have it sucked once in shop to guarantee the self scaling

can someone help me understand why spino is better than turkey? Like from experience I understand that its really strong but mathematically I don't understand how

Not entirely sure, but likely the fact that being able to scale a few pets high rather than spreading stats is often very powerful, and also that buying units with Turkey and then levelling Turkey loses stats compared to doing the same with Spino. For instance, if you pivot to your Turkey team on a Lv1 Turkey and then level it up to Lv2 next turn, all those units you bought don't get the new stats it gives, only their summons do. Whereas Spino gives those stats in battle, so you're not losing stats by pivoting on a Lv1 Spino. Also helps that you can retrigger Spino in shop with shop faints in a way that Turkey can't, and also Spino doesn't lose value by keeping a unit you built up early when Turkey wants you to sell and re-buy everything for maximum value. Obviously when it gets down to actually summoning units mid-battle Turkey gives more total stats, but everything outside of that is the reasons you would Spino.

Yup, although turkey giving more stats in battle is not always true and depends on composition. If you buy turkey onto a board of 4 non-summon pets you get absolutely nothing, but with spino you get 3 faint triggers immediately.
