The reason I think everyone loves Elyse, at least for me, is that I can empathize with her shyness but she still willing to be herself no matter how different she may be. That fact that she owns it makes her even more awesome.

At least a couple other members can be funny (Bruce) but she has never made me laugh. She comes across like she is trying way to hard to be funny in the same way Trevor does.

There's actually a pretty simple, albeit morbid, logic to using a gun for self defense, and it's this; If you are ever in a situation where a gun is the answer to the problem, it IS a shoot-to-neutralize situation. Period. You don't threaten someone with a gun, you don't warn someone with a gun, because you shouldn't have your gun pointed at a person unless all else has failed and you are in the process of shooting them to neutralize them. Notice I didn't say shoot to kill, I said shoot to neutralize - you don't want to KILL anyone, you just want to stop the threat. (this is a matter of intent, realistically you are shooting to kill but you don't want to be telling the police that's what you were doing. You were shooting to stop the threat. You were not shooting to kill.) Think of it like this. Dude breaks into your house. Doesn't know you're home, maybe, just wants to steal some stuff.. but he is armed, because of course he is. And that makes him a threat to YOUR life, and you have the right to defend yourself by any means. But you don't want to shoot anyone, so you attempt to scare him away. You surprise him by waving a gun around and threatening him. Now HE fears for HIS life. Even though he broke into your home, YOU are pointing a gun at him and now he feels that HIS life is at risk. He's going to do one of a few things. 1, Run. 2, Surrender. Or 3, Pull out his gun and start shooting at you. The thing is, you won't know which of those 3 he's going to do until after he's done it. And if it's option #3, you've just involved yourself in a shootout that you may not win. You go looking for a gun fight with someone who has broken into your house, or you go trying to scare them away by waving a gun around and racking the slide or whatever.. you're making a bad situation worse. So to bring it back around.. if you have to resort to defending yourself with a gun, you don't use it to threaten, intimidate or scare. You use it to stop the threat. Period.

This, so much. Guns are not a joke. I know too many idiots that consider them to be toys since they grew up with them since they were ten and they are just a part of life. When I was in middle school, I took a basic sports shooting course. The instructors there were knowledgeable and knew what they were doing, but also very close-minded about some things. According to them, the guns were tools, not weapons. This was because we shot paper there, not animals. This is statement is so very wrong. As someone who still enjoys shooting as a hobby, it is necessary to understand that guns were initially created to KILL, and whenever you pick up a gun, you have to recognize what you are carrying has the potential to end a life with the twitch of a finger. If you do not treat guns with the respect they deserve, you will a)hurt yourself or b)hurt someone else. Even if you have taken out the magazine/clip and cleared the chamber of a gun, not everyone around you may know that, so as to avoid anyone doing something stupid, never EVER point a gun at anyone. The one exception to this rule is what Carnage Racing said above. Don't fuck around with guns. Also, all of the above rules apply to any airsoft/BB gun as well. These still can be lethal and not everyone can identify one at a glance. They often look just like real guns and should be treated with the same respect.

One of the biggest concerns in home defense is over-penetration. If you have to fire your weapon, you want it to stop the attacker without going through the attacker potentially into other rooms of your home. Hollow point bullets have a huge amount of stopping power but they are also far less likely to exit the attacker and still be deadly.

I'm really happy about the gun discussion in this podcast. They approached it calmly, professionally, and listened to other's opinions. The different attitudes towards guns was interesting because it was very typically split along cultural lines. Gavin took the "not a toy, don't treat them like one." stance, which is common in England, while the "it's airsoft/BBs, chill." was also represented. Both sides have good points, but the cultures they grew up in are key in how they view them.

when you're in an accident, NEVER listen to the other person that's saying "oh no it's fine! there was no damage, we don't need to exchange info or call law enforcement!" um, no, you do. the main reason for this is that there is a lot of people out there who make money off of purposely getting into accidents and then filing a claim the other person involved for 'injuries' that didn't pop up immediately after, and since you didn't report it, your insurance might deny you coverage if it is after the time period allotted for reporting accidents and collisions

It's their intentional gun homicides that are low (not as low as Japan or Singapore though, 2 countries with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world) but if you look at their gun related deaths they plummet to 44th in the world. Additionally Switzerland has fewer guns per capita than the US, there is no legal concealed carry, and automatic or selective fire weapons are banned. The "gun in every home" or mandatory gun ownership law are myths. This is due to their mandatory military service for males which sees the military issuing firearms to conscripts until their service is complete (typically age 34). The additional military training that pretty much every household has is probably the biggest reason for any real improvement in gun safety.

There is an AR-15 upper that is a can cannon, you use blanks to shoot the can out of it, But you are also able to use it as a grappling hook launcher. But it needs special kind of hooks.

1:22:00 Once upon a time, my grandfather heard an intruder open his front door at 2 am. He picked up his shotgun, reached for the shells, and knocked them over onto a wooden floor. The intruder heard them rolling around upstairs and booked it. My sister, who actually met him, is convinced this was intentional. The point is, Michael is completely serious and 100% correct here.

I want a clarification to your story. Are you saying you never met this grandfather, and your sister did? Or are you saying that your sister met the guy who broke in?

SchtakoJoe adding to it, Australia has banned guns and the last time we had a school shooting I think was like 20-40 years ago. Since the ban none. We still hunt and shoot animals because you can get licenses but you have to pass a test to prove you're sane. If you guys really want to use a gun that badly I'm sure taking a short test would be worth it tho right? Also let's all just put the guns down and have a good ol bukake fest I'm sure that'll make more people happy then fighting

Most people I know started off being somewhat scared of guns. After they learn the basics of how the gun operates, how to safely handle guns, and proper shooting form, they enjoy shooting. I think that if people just had a base level of experience with guns they would not fear them as much.
