This really simplifies getting started in Jazz, using a simplified jazz blues progression with easy chords and arpeggios with an added minor third blue note. No complex modal scales, intricate fingering, difficult stretches.

Thank you, sir. Simply brilliant. I like this silent approach way better than listening to instructors explaining what notes they were fretting a second earlier.
this is one of the best videos I´ve seen about jazz blues, thank you very much

Very nice, master! But I have a question: you used the blue note on the I7 and IV7 chords, but not on the dominant chord. Why not? Thank you!
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar Жыл бұрын
That is my choice, you can also use the blue note also on the V7 chord. Please note: there is more freedom in jazz improvisation than the the most people think.

Wow! I am just learning to play jazz (which is really a challenge compared to all other types of guitar genres) and this lesson is superb! I am subscribing to your channel. Cheers.

Where do I begin for jazz and the chordal tone/scale approach to learning jazz on the guitar? I want to play Jazz standards like a Sunny and autumn leaves. I just started the Hal Leonard guitar method book 1. Is this a good way to start and to learn the notes on the fret board? Chord shapes, positions?
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar7 жыл бұрын
First of all: you have to learn the names of the notes on the fretboard, without that, it's not possible to improvise over chord changes. A good way to start with jazz improvisation is with the blues. Look at my lessons over complete standards here on youtube: kzbin.info/aero/PLGSQLUOdi3Smi8z8lyBWfHk2MwogsgZYh

Thank you. I will view your lessons. Do these lessons teach what chord shapes to use and point out the 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc along with the blues scale or does that come later?
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar7 жыл бұрын
It works best with the available tabs and neck diagrams, you find it all in my online shop. www.klangfarbe-noten-shop.de/index.php?language=en There will be a second part of this lesson with more advanced concepts coming soon . . .

Thanks. You recommend starting Jazz improvisation with the Blues. I look at your lessons and I see C Minor Jazz Blues..which other lessons of yours would help with starting with the Blues? I am not sure from looking at the titles?

Achim, you are amazing. How do you get the backing bass and drums? Do you have the Digitech Trio looper?
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar6 жыл бұрын
No, I've played the bass line myself (I'm also a bass player) and used the real swing drum loops from a bebop drummer from California (unfortunately I forgot his name, but he is brilliant). I have spend a lot of time with the backing tracks, hard work btw . . .
@ericstandefer91386 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes, the backing tracks are a lot of work. I was hoping you were going to show me an easier way lol. Love your work.
