Are you aching to find a spouse who understands you and your Catholic faith? Being called to the married life when you don’t have a spouse makes you feel like you’re putting your life on hold, waiting for someone to come along so you can live out your vocation. Jackie offers five tips to remember if you’re having a hard time being single.
1. Everybody has an ache only God can satisfy.
2. Be healthy and holy now.
3. Remember your death. Remember life is short.
4. God doesn’t show you gold and give you silver.
5. Be patient and trust God.

Exactly. Waiting is very possible. Remember the marshallow test? Those who were willing to wait and certain that they would receive a 2nd one did wait. But that was because they were promised that. God did not promise to use that we are surely going to be married. That is the hard part, not the waiting one. Still, keeping the virtue of hope is what we can do, if that's the only thing we could manage.

Today I rejected a man who doesn’t believe in God and only wanted to use my body. It wasn't easy because I really liked him, but I decided not to settle for that. I trust that it’ll be worth it when I marry my future spouse. Would you please pray for us? I’ll be praying for all singles. May the Lord guide our steps and decisions.❤️

You did the right thing. The superficial eventually gives way to paying bills, laundry, grocery shopping, work etc. and at that point we realize we need a partner in ALL things and most particularly in helping us make our way to heaven. A life lived in faith requires sacrifice and a deepening of belief. God wants us strong and trusting in Him so there definitely WILL be difficulties. So consider, will this person stay at my side if there are serious money problems? What if one or both of us are seriously ill? What if we need to care for an aging parent? What if one of the kids ends up in a bad situation? The measure of a partner is not how we look in photos at the party, but how do we work together when all the parties are over and we realize our mortality is facing us and eternity awaits! Will we stand hand in hand, smiling, trusting in the Lord, knowing we lived a life of faith?

@@scitris6474 There was a girl in my college dorm (we had co-ed floors) who pretty much all the guys agreed was ugly (mean, I know). I however, thought she was kind of attractive. There was another girl that every dude was drooling over, whom I was never into her. Would've taken the "uglier" girl in a heartbeat. What's my point? Work to improve yourself, don't be shy about floating some feelers out there if you're interested in someone, and just know that if you're called to marriage, God will bring you and that one diamond in the rough together, which is all that matters.

I remember getting rejected when I asked him for a cup of coffee. That was at Valentine's day and I was crushed. From that month on to almost a year, I lived through embracing being single and loved every moment of it. I discovered my love for my faith, starting a book club with my friend, baking, and learning dance moves by Taylor Swift while singing her songs in my room. I was really at joy. Then my boyfriend got the courage to ask me out (the one who did rejected me, but he only wanted to get to know me) and we turned our genuine acquainted friendship into almost a courtship. He is everything I wanted in my ideal partner and being single for all my life until 26, I could say God's timing is always worth the wait. Never ever settle and always aim to do better for yourself and of course everything through God's will alone. Thank you Jackie and God Bless!💛💛💛

I know this ache, all to well, and have for many years. I'm 37 and have never had a boyfriend. So the ache for marriage is also now a strong ache that even if I do wed, I may never have my own biological children. Yet, I see those around me who've rushed into marriage and relationships, without having a relationship with God, and their aches and pains are so much greater. We have to see the end game, and that's eternity with God. So here's hoping our aches in this life could count towards some time off in Purgatory. :-D

God told me in a dream, "Donna my daughter be patient and I will give you everything you need in time"! When I heard this, it quieted my spirit! I have learned to love unconditionally. I have learned all things comes to you when he feels it is to teach you or serve you for the good. I have completely turned my life around. I walk away from people who are negative to me in all forms, I listen to Christian music when everyone tells me they hate it or to turn it down. I have learned to love myself first and accept what Jesus ' will is for me and not what others in the world want from me. I have let their jealousy go way side and moved on with my endeavors. God is Good! You can only give positive love, communication, honesty and caring to others once you feel this way about yourself. This brings me to a song that I sing on the top of my lungs; "Greater is the one living inside of me than he who lives in the world". I believe this is Casting Crowns. Also, Hannah Kerr, "Warrior"! Thank you for doing this video. Oh, did you know that God has or had more than one person in your life as a child in heaven and you do come to them in life. Sometimes at different times or all at the same time. However, one may radiate more than the other. Even in their own radiation of God's love they are still part of your divine connection. Have a Blessed Day!

Thank you Jackie. I’m still single at 43 and I’ve enjoyed doing things like going on trips and all the carefreeness that comes with it. But I get that feeling of isolation and loneliness from time to time and I need to fill a void by finding someone that I can share my life with and support. This video helps clarify things.

Thanks for addressing this issue. I am 53 and yes I feel an ache or emptiness inside and I don't know how to fix it. No relationship has worked out. I was rejected by the one who meant the most to me. It flattens your self esteem and shatters your confidence. I go to functions and there are all these young couples there with their children. I come away feeling like I just don't fit in anywhere and that life has no meaning or purpose. I even wondered if I might be called to religious life, and I offered myself, but being over the age limit, I didn't receive a positive response.

Dont feel that way about yourself Joseph... Increase your faith In Jesus and love yourself more than the actual love to be in a relationship. You could special for a special reason planned by God. I'm 37 and am always yearning to be loved by a someone but I learned to love myself and God more. So this feeling overrides the other one. Dont worry... Stay blessed Brother.

Here's why women need to be open minded. I met a woman online who lives 5 minutes away. I saw a woman online who lives an hour away. Now which person would it be so much easier to date? The one that lives 5 minutes away. How many times have we seen profiles of someone who lives far away and thought "well he or she is too far away I'll wait for someone closer". Makes sense. I think in most cases there's more than one person for everyone. There's no guarantee the person who lives an hour away will work out. We may as well play the odds and try to make it work with the person that lives nearby. Keep that in mind ladies.

Thank you for this. You mentioned waiting until you are even 50. I’m actually 60 and I’ve never been married. I’ve been praying a 54-day Novena to help me find someone and I was really worried that my prayers were not being answered. I don’t drink, but today I seriously thought about drinking just to see if it would ease the pain. Your video help me to see how wrong that would be. So I’ll continue to pray and hope and I’ll try much harder not to worry. Coming home to an empty home, for yet another Christmas was really hard. I was hoping for some answers and this video was a tremendous help. Thank you and God Bless.

@Catholics Around The World hi and thanks for the contact. Perhaps I should e-mail you, so I’m not putting too much of my life on here. There is someone in my life who has been my best friend for 20+ years, but she does not seem to be ready to be more than that. She isn’t Catholic, but she does come to Mass sometimes. I’m torn because I don’t want to give up the hope that we can one day be a couple and wondering how much more of my life do I wait and hope. I’ve tried to have that discussion and I’ve made no secret of my feeling for her. I was really hoping my 54-day Novena would give me clarity. I’m on day 24 today. That’s my dilemma!

@ Cath Erine Let me tell you something. Don't pay attention to negative comments. Yes, the divorce rates are high and more and more from our generation are putting off marriage either out of fear or financial reasons (or lack thereof) . The point is, nothing is impossible with God. I am also in my early thirties and even though I see no "eligible" men out there, doesn't mean they are extinct. If God wants marriage for our lives, it will happen. Hang in there! Message me if you like! Cheers and chin up!

I agree and much-needed. Only thing you seemed to miss is this idea of vocational discernment. I mean, if a fella discerns he's meant for the seminary, we shuttle him off pretty quickly. Same for all religious. And yet, when it's marriage people say they feel called to, all they receive are platitudes about patience and waiting. For me, I'd find it difficult to do as you say with joy - as if I truly believed I were made for marriage, any joyful experience would quickly be tinged with sadness for the absence of my future spouse! Still, great thoughts, thanks!

Listening to this for a second time because omg wow how God used this to speak to my heart today. Last night I was genuinely having a panic attack from fear of not having the qualities of a previous relationship in my next (silly, I know, but real). The moment you said "God won't show you gold and give you silver," I started crying (happy tears!!!). That was 100%, exactly what I knew in my heart but really needed to hear out loud. I am so glad I listened to this video, the entire video. I almost turned it off for the first four minutes because it really didn't connect with me.. but wow those last six minutes were exactly what I needed to hear!!! Going write "God won't show you gold and give you silver" everywhere now. Sending love!!

All of those sayings resonate with me. Though I've had to do more rejecting than getting rejected. And the two rejections were easy for me to get over because I could see those guys as more like brothers (they are my brothers' friends). That, and with those two, it was pretty obvious they weren't quite ready yet. Anyway, God wanted me to see this,. I assume to let me know my future husband is just around the corner. I just have to wait a bit longer, no matter how hard that can get since I am so impatient.

Beautiful video! So many good things to think about. My only issue is when she talked about singles who need help and then said their future spouse will say “Thank God this person isn’t crazy”. I KNOW she meant it jokingly, but lots of people are seriously suffering with depression, anxiety, etc., which doesn’t necessarily make them crazy, just makes them wounded, which we ALL are in one form or another. Minor point, overall fantastic video!

I'm 51 and gave up. I just lost hope and I promised myself not to ask God for a good woman never again. I know deep in my heart that I'll be alone for the rest of my life. I've assumed that and as long as He provides me with good health and some wealth I'm happy. The moment you realize it'll never happen it's a hard pill to swallow, but once you get thru it, it's fine. He's in command and I trust Him with all my stuff.

“God won’t show you gold and give you silver” is not biblical. Where is it in the Bible? Where is that in Christian tradition? I could use the same phrase for finding a job, or with money... God wants me to have a lot of money doesn’t he? .... I’m sorry Jackie, but what you are saying in that regard is not based on anything except American prosperity gospel... you need to recognise this and stop saying it as it’s misleading a lot of people.

You don't know if their relationship is solid. There are always struggles in marriage. My husband made my life miserable for many years. Addictions, jelousy, abuse and on the top of it, he never kept a job. It is a long story but to make it short, I found the strenght to separate. I was separated for three years, with three kids, having to work full time, studying at university, economical, physical and psycological problems derived from my situation. I felt very miserable. I was far from the Faith. On day, I had a mistic experience and my life changed, I started praying (I almost forgot how to pray), going to mass, confession, reading books... and now I am back to my husband. He is a complete different person. We still have issues but it is more because I was hurt and I find difficult to overcome my past. I wish my life was different and I wish my husband had been since the beginning the good man he is now, but I wouldn't be the person I am now. Don't let the pessimism take control of you. That's is what the evil does. Just say as Jesus said "get behind me, Satan". Ask Our Lady to help you, she is a woman, she is one of us, she will lead you to his Son. You are not alone.
