That is one of the things that my husband said he loved and respected about me. I was not willing to compromise my values when it came to intimacy and other areas of my life. I had bowed to pressure and changed my values for other men I dated and found that 3 months in, I was no longer myself. I didnt marry those men. Once I discovered who I was and my relationship with God and learned to love who I was, God blessed me with a wonderful man. my husband and I will celebrate 11 yrs of marriage this year.

Gina Becker hi Gina, congratulations 🎉 and what you said is really encouraging, thanks for sharing🙏🏼 I think we should always have faith in God. Although in today’s dating culture it is difficult to find someone who agrees with our chastity values and still want to date you without having what they want, we should believe that if we obey the commandments God give us, He will grant us what’s beyond our imagination😇

Don't forget that chastity is for married couples too! Why not add a part 2 to this video and talk about protecting marriages from flirting with others, adultery, etc.? I see marriages around me crumbling because of lack of chastity too. It's not just for the single.

I wanted to add on to the Tired of HALT: I struggle a lot with lust, and although it has become easier (with LOTS of prayer) to steer away from temptation when I'm awake, it gets really hard when I'm lying half-asleep in bed. I started praying a rosary as I was going to sleep, and have learned that I have to treat this time just like any other time in my life: no compromising, no leaving room for sin. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm praying, so that I don't give my thoughts time to wander. To clarify: you can't beat your desires into submission- trust me, I've tried. It's only by re-orienting yourself through prayer that you'll recieve the grace you need to put your desires in order. What I'm referring to is when you are capable of acting chastely, but choose to leave yourself just a little bit open to temptation. That's when you have to stand firm. Hope this helps anyone struggling with similar problems!

I’m so happy I don’t have sexual urges 😂 when I was a kid, I thought something was wrong with me. Now I’m 26 and realizing I fall under the asexual spectrum-and Lord am I happy about that! Married now and having the best sex of my life after waiting for my husband :) Thank you so much for sharing this and for being so candid. I wish more talks like this happened in the church, they’re so important for young people. IT IS A HUGE RED FLAG if they don’t want to include you in their family. If they don’t want to date in community. If they act like you’re a secret. Big big red flag.

Amazing. I am turning 45, and back when I was a teen the way of "Catholic" families used to be like women must remain virgin till wedding day but guys could do whatever they wanted with girls they wouldn't necessarily marry someday. That was not right and it is not what Catholicism says. What you say is the true Catholicism.
@rose4490

That's not about Catholicism. Guys should save their virginity as well as gals. The issue you are speaking to sounds, and seems to be more about culture, and double standards. Chastity is for everyone.

Thank you very much and God bless! I grew up in a non-religious household and environment and was taught that waiting until marriage is from other outdated centuries and for sectants. I am so glad it isn't! I am not an alien with my thoughts :) there are adequate people with rewarding experiences. I feel very welcomed and in a non judgemental atmosphere watching your video:) thank you for this In school I refused to go to bars, never drank alcohol or smoked and dressed modestly. At that time I did not know there's a word like modesty. It was very unusual in my surrounding and still I thankfully did not became an outcast because of this. I was popular in school, maybe because I did not show giggling interest in boys. They were even the more motivated trying to woo me, seeing I was unreachable I survived school without giving my body away. After graduation I learned that if you wait, infatuation with it's hormone storms will go away and you'll stand there wondering how this could change from the most intense feeling to irrelevant. I did not gave away what seemed sacred for me and worth more than play. I wanted to share myself wholly only with someone who loves me and whom I love. Sadly I did not stumbled across the word chastity until now. There was 2 engagements already and I lost my virginity with them. It is a plus that I waited for a man that proposed to me. Even though it was psychologically too early and a compromise that does not suit my soul or psychotype or whatever you name it. I am writing this so other people with similar experiences find a story to relate. You are not alone! And you can begin to live chaste anytime you decide to! Living chastely is for Marriage, is for singles and for couples who already had sex. I told my current boyfriend recently that I want to refrain from sexual activity. I was ready to let him go. If he wants to go, it would be better for both of us. And I wish him to be happy, if there is a place he's happier... Why hold on to him? It should be his free choice! Like it is my free choice to choose where my boundaries are and with what morals I want to live. He not only stayed in the relationship, but supports and admires me. Do you really want to be with someone that stays only as long as the sex is good? For me this is not 'being loved for who you are', but rather an agreement of co-habitation where it is your job to perform, else you are fired. And if it only was for performing in sex, but NO there are several other thingies summing up to the load of performance- pressure. In some way this is twisted. A day time job and an at-home job. One paid with money. Where can I relax and be myself without pressure to perform? Using each other, not seeing each others hearts, because we're too busy demanding "what we deserve". Deserving love...

Another great thing that chastity does is prove the trust of the relationship. Someone who cannot keep themselves chast while in the dating/engagement period, will have a very hard time staying dedicated to the marriage when they don't feel like they want to be in it. It's a great trust exercise (not that every person who stays chast before marriage doesn't cheat while in the marriage). But it's a real good indicator that the person you are dating has self control. I find people who have self control, have much more stable lives in general. Thank you so much for this video. I love how you prayerfully and calmly explain the importance of this virtue.

I love these videos. Thank you for these great tools. I thank God for all of you at Ascension Press. I know when my wife and I were dating, we made sure never to “be alone.” Our parents always gave us some privacy, but we were in their homes while they were there. And we usually were in a living room or a very public part of the house. But I think the most effective tool for us was, if we were in the car alone, THE CAR NEEDED TO BE MOVING. My wife was much better than me, and it was tedious at times, but looking back after 16 years of marriage, six boys, and praise God, a baby girl on the way, I am so glad we did this. You are right, it is something we are so glad we did now, looking back in hindsight. I love sharing these videos with my nieces and nephews. Thanks so much and we are praying for you both.

It doesn't sound like someone who doesn't want to wait would be a compatible partner for you in the first place We exist. My advice would be to give any wholesome guy who asks you out at least one date, even if you don't think you two will be a match for whatever reason. You never know. A friend of my family was rejected by his wife multiple times when he was initially trying to ask her out. She didn't think she liked him, but eventually gave him a shot. They've been married for over ten years now and have four kids.

I think I might be in the same boat as you right now! I was raised Catholic and am in my third year of college now, but am still single... Understandably so, this stirred something within me - when will I meet the one I will spend the rest of my life with? I am sure many Catholic youths can relate to this sentiment. We probably desire the same things; a wonderful spouse, a beautiful house, the white picket fence, children, etc, etc, etc - we lament to ourselves regularly, that if we only had that one person by our side we would begin to feel happy. That once “the right” person waltzes into our lives we will begin the journey that is a just relationship. In our heads, it would seem that all anyone really needs is a companion of the opposite sex, whom we feel attracted to in one way or another. As Catholics, we might be taken aback by this and respond: “I’m certainly not only in it for the pleasure and looks! I want to connect with someone emotionally, and work with a companion to pursue noble ends!” If that is you then you are certainly ahead of the game, however there is more to it than that. If we are not at peace with ourselves as single individuals, we will not be happy or at peace in a relationship with another human being. You see, there are reasons that we feel unsatisfied with where we are as single people. Our unhappiness with our own lack of romantic relationships is simply a manifestation of whatever the deeper issues we have with ourselves are. These are the issues that we must explore and heal if we ever hope to be capable of fully loving another human being as we are called to do in the sacrament of marriage. The summation of this point can be realized more holistically through the ponderence of this very common line: “How can we expect to be capable of showing love to others, if we are incapable of showing love to ourselves?” This should not be misinterpreted to mean that we should accept ourselves as permanent mantle pieces, incapable of change; rather, we should seek to become better through pursuing God in every aspect we can possibly fathom, and so, learn to love ourselves as God’s own, on a never ending journey to become more like Him. For me, I have realized the glaring issue in my life is a lack of Chastity. I had never truly been exposed to the idea before a month ago, when I accidently stumbled across Jason Evert’s video on “How to Save Your Marriage Before You’ve Met Your Spouse” (THANKS BE TO GOD I DID!). On top of that I realized that while I do go to Church every week, participate somewhat actively with the Church on campus, and seek to be friendly and kind to others in public; the most intimate areas in my life are more corrupt than I ever realized. I did not even bring my Bible to school when I moved in… I never developed habits of prayer… I never truly committed to live purely in all aspects of my life - including the things I watched and listened to on the internet… These terrible habits many of us have, or lack of good habits, cannot be expected to blow away or develop (in the case of the good habits) as soon as we meet “the one.” NO, we must resolve to become better through our own free will and intellect. I’ve realized that there is SO MUCH I need to begin to work on with myself as an individual before I can even pretend to be ready to treat my future wife with the love and respect She deserves to be treated with. I’ve resolved, as I hope you will to, to die to myself in the hope of a better future; to pursue God in all areas of my life, until He truly cements Himself as the one greatest pleasure I have on this earth. It is only then that we can truly open ourselves to give and receive the love of our future mates, and thank God for helping us to realize that.

My advice for chastity is by fasting and prayer if you are not married. If married diet and self sacrifice will burn up that desire. Todays food are high in protein and foods can contribute to testosterone products and all that hormones need an outlet if those passions are ignited it will burn you inside and your heart will commit sin even though you are under chastity your constantly will be fixated elsewhere . In todays over sexualized society dress to impress / tv / social media very tempting. I recommend : 1 Prayers ask god for guidance ( fill your self with spirit ) 2 Be of service to people / family 3 Fasting very important if you want to break down lust internally 4 let go of anger , jealousy , excessive talking and envy as this will stress your system and some might find comfort in the form of sexual release to comfort them which another viscous cycle. 5 Eat protein based on your activity if you working at a desk job excess protein is not good . 6 Be Humble. 7 For men avoid much of the internet or social media. :)

So you are trying to be sexless till you get married, but what about once you get married? In theory the church says no sex unless you want to conceive, so that means chastity for ever. Tough
@kenu995
@kenu995 Жыл бұрын
Purposely avoiding sex when you're married is also wrong. The whole point of marriage is to build a family. Chastity doesn't mean the exact same thing for married people as it does others. It means using your sexual desires in a loving, moderate way, not "this person is now my personal outlet for all my kinks and naughty thoughts".

Shake It Easy I know how it is to discover the beauty of our faith, but calling ourselves "traditional" kind of sets us apart from rhe rest of the Church, as if we were better and more correct than the others. Stay Roman Catholic, and that will truly be enough.

Matheus Alpoin I didn’t mean brag or to to start a discussion but like any other poem, i just need to give them credit. On what happened to me. Like i said, no words but the moment i stepped in, it felt revelation, unfolded truths. I am born and raised as a Novus ordo, attended Novus ordo school, then about 7 years ago, bible study with protestants.. I was asked to church with them every sunday because as per them, its just the same but i didnt go.. I was so proud with pride, always judging immodest women like I am greater than them until I knew Traditional which i have never heard of before (talking about Traditional. I kept on going to Novus ordo until my car is taken and was forced to walk and find this Traditional church. I used to deny and ashamed of faith until now. I hope you understand me crediting them.

The sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Penance and the Holy Rosary helped me me heal my sexual addiction and save me from sexual sin. Still in the process here, so I need your prayers. Everytime I reach that part of the litany where we say, "Virgin most chaste, Virgin most pure," I feel almost as if the virtues of the Blessed Mother brushes off us. We become a little bit more like Jesus everytime we commune with Him in the Mass. Recent revert here, BTW.

Hey, I want to bring up something you said so briefly about it being a red flag when someone isn't dating in community. You said it really quick and didn't flesh this out. I got a buddy that was dating this girl and he would intentionally do that; deep down I knew that that wouldn't produce good fruits and that they wouldn't ever be together as long as that existed. They broke up as I knew would happen yet I don't know how to broach the topic with him. If you guys were looking for future video topics and needs, this would totally be fertile soil, at least for me. Occasionally I find myself wanting space to develop a one on one relationship in a rather rigid way when it comes to dating; and yes it doesnt bare good fruits. Anyway, just some thoughts! Great video + thanks!

Actually, I agree- It's fine that you go out with him in the beginning a few times while getting to know him... Yet, after awhile... Come on... you're gonna want to be alone & insisting on this group thing is going to get old really quick
@_Keith_
@_Keith_ 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't mean to sound overly blunt or inconsiderate, but honestly for me, if a woman insisted on never being alone with me that would be such a red flag it just about feels like a deal breaker. If you're going to pursue marriage, I think it makes sense to pursue nonsexual intimacy. Platonic intimacy is precisely how you come to deeply know a person and share a meaningful relationship with them. Yes, some of that can, and probably should, include a broader social context, as with family time, but if you avoid being alone together, that strikes me as a real problem. ..Just sharing my thoughts, hoping to help.

What are your recommendations for couples who have been promiscuous in past relationships but who now want to follow a more chaste lifestyle.
@_Keith_

Find right clarity and maintain it. When you find a clear focus on what you view as right and wrong, it is for you to choose identification with what's right, and repent from what is wrong. The extent to which you honestly repent and truly identify with what is good, is the extent to which you are, in that moment, innocent and separated from sin, worthy of love. The degree to which you maintain that state is the degree to which you walk the way of righteous purity, and can share that love with your presence. In maintaining clarity, on a regular basis, give attention to your awareness, and remind yourself of what is clearly important to you, until it becomes second nature. To practice righteousness is the way to follow what Christ taught, to honor and apply that way in transforming life, for yourself and others. The ceaseless prayer of theosis. Focus on that, and the rest will follow. Here's some inspiration, if you like ✜ kzbin.info/aero/PLlabX7VbMTmXbU-Umid7n7Tu5DWo5YCsp

In my life regular prayer is essential. Growing up I struggled with lust as a young man, with he usual consequences and spiritual hurt that comes from it, nothing unusual. I have being doing the morning prayer from the divine office for about 6 months an it is the most effective means of keeping me orientated towards God and my eyes away from temptation, that i have ever encountered in my whole life. Doing it really improves my self control. Really excellent resource for lay people that few use

Love it. Chastity is a LIFESTYLE. Often thought when I was dating that if I just found that one thing/rule I could stay chaste but it’s really a mindset supported by healthy, solid boundaries. Like living healthy physically it’s not just about eating the right kale or whatever. It’s so many things that you integrate into your everyday life. The number one thing of course be integrated with and in fact lead by is God and His love.
