Thank you, Tyler you just saw my instructor Armen last week I asked him for your autograph because you are amazing

Professor- As you mentioned in ACI-211 part 1- it’s a guess to the development for trial batching- I have found within the engineering community that ACI-211 is gospel whereas it is truly just a guide- using a 6.8 sack mix is a high shrinkage mix- Most state DOT’s use 211 and explains to them that it’s a guideline is like talking to a wall- (i.e) the state of Oregon requires a certification test to even make mixes and requires that a certified person be present at a ODOT pour- the test requires variables and how to correct them in the field- it’s a nightmare- thanks for your continued efforts to educate the concrete industry-

This is a challenge! This is why education is so important. Thanks for the comment. I talked with Oregon DOT last week and I think they are starting to see that there are other ways to do this.

As per ACI 211.1-91(2002) there are two methods of preparing Mix Design: 1. Mass Based 2. Volume Based Can you do a video explaining the pros and cons of both? Much appreciated.

You're killing me... Looks like I'll hire a contractor to pour my garage floor. Hopefully he's at least as smart as you!👍

You had me a little confused at 4:30 when you initially said 335 pounds per cubic foot. Dang, that's some heavy water! Once you went back to the worksheet you changed to cubic yard which really helped.

Hi Tyler. i have one question. Mix design is required for lean Concrete? If no , can you tell me the clause of ACI.

Wouldn’t a 3” slump result in edge slump issues when using a slip form paver?

Kind of confusing or correct me if I misunderstand it but your unit in the weight column shows lb/cy yet you keep saying pcf🤷🏻♀️

What is the connection between the rodded unit weight in using the specific gravity? If i remebered it right the calculation of specific gravity is base on volume of solids. While the calculation of the unit weight of that rodded density is base on a container meaning there is a void

How can I focus on concrete mix design if I am also working in material submittals for new precast projects??

Hi badass, great video !! Please, can you tell if ACI 211 is available with every Kind Dmax coarse aggregate? Actually I'm a student in chemical engineering and I'm asked study the correlation between cement and amix (HWRA) so I need to formulate a good concrete Admix first... I really need help....

Hi . How use this method that you explained, for high performance concrete?

How to calculate the mass of SCMs (12:45)? Say if we use 30% of fly ash, will the mass of fly ash simply be 638*0.3 lb/cy? But in that case there will be some error in the entire mix design because the specific gravity of fly ash is way lower than cement. 638*0.3 lb of fly has higher volume than 638*0.3 lb of cement. How to address the problem?
@TylerLey5 жыл бұрын
You increase the amount of aggregate in the mix to get 27 cubic ft or 1 cy.
@bobowman31585 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this. Are the weight units correct? (Lb/cy). If just lb we can use 62.4 lb/ ft3 to get water volume.
@bobowman31585 жыл бұрын
Oh now I get it. The unit size we comparison is one block that is a cubic yard.
@harpergrace25103 жыл бұрын
We have the same question but go back to 4:30 where he mentioned the correct unit is pcf NOT pcy.

Looking for a cement for boat building. 25 m Cat external hull pressure is 1.5MPa suggested Thickness about 25 mm hull width to length is 10% NACA0090 flat bottom. Height of Hull 5000 mm. Salt water and fresh water . Can not have steel .. wanting to use a chooper gun and spray gun with Basalt cop strand. Any hints ? Spray Layup on a SS fly wire mesh. over Wooden molds.

hi guys! i’ve been told that fly ash class f is about 0.5 lb/cyd of cement, so after our water cement calculation, and our determination of how much cement we need, do you think using that (lb/cyd f fly ash = 0.5 lb/cyd cement) to figure out the total celebrations material?

Psi? Inches? Pounds per cubit foot? What in the hell is going on here? The USA hadn’t changed over to the SI metric system yet? Or is this video from the 1960s ?

😂 i just started watching the video but you may be right there are a lot of inconsistencies in what he says and shown in the video. Human error I suppose but it’s free so I can’t complain much. I just try my best to understand his explanation 😅

Sure! I would use the Tarantula Curve Mixture design procedure. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5LdZnqcZ6-Uq9U I would use a w/cm of around 0.42 and a water reducer.
