And that is alchemy.

So, the thing is though, is that the 18 k acid gives false positives and is not always accurate. There is a reason silver has its own solution for testing.

That's very interesting, I have never heard this but will certainly look into it. Thanks for that info!

@@DizzyTreasures welcome! Just wanted you to know in case… unsure who started the trend of testing silver with 18 kt but it’s not 100. I found out because I sold something as sterling but it was not. Navigating the different reds of sterling results is easier than bad reviews. 😊

@@stephver I do know that if you don't scratch deep enough silver plating can sometimes test positive but as long as you scratch fairly well that shouldn't be a problem. Also, I have had the 18k show little specs of milky blue which indicates that plating pieces are showing positive but it won't the be entire scratch line. I will have to do tests with both from now on :)

@@DizzyTreasures it was two pieces unmarked that tested positive with 18 kt. Good scratches. I felt horrible for the buyer. Ever since, I use silver only. I am not a KZbinr, p-t reseller basically my whole life… because that’s what we did when we were finished with things. 🙂 There’s a KZbinr though that has also discovered that 18 kt. gives false positives. She did videos on it. Let me find her channel.
