especially like "material girl", not because i'm poor..which i most certainly am. but because it's got that great riff. Also, i't lets me know where i stand when i'm thinking of asking that special girl on a date. No dough no go. No doubt one of Madonna's finest and most heartfelt songs she can always be proud of, and evermore so now that it's transcended pop music and found a whole new genre to inspire. The noble jazz art form just raised the bar. The vocalist feels the urgency no doubt and the energy is palpable with every new verse and what a feat! To remove any trace of fun sounding music and replace it with an amazing and slightly lackluster trumpet dou. Reminiscent of a series of slow old man wet farts. She really sold them on the idea of covering this tune at first... then one thing led to another. The trumpeters stopped showing for rehearsal so what other choice is there but to just pop in the cassette tape and do it karaoke style. My only regret about all this is that my meager bluetooth speaker cannot go any louder. I hope there's a jazz cover of 'cruel summer' in the near future.
