Gentleman and a scholar I only hope that that Matt and his crew see my response and realizes his inportanze of his work. I´m just father just coping with a child and this melody and these words are a mundane lift to world, exquisite fist to my moment when I push myself forwads in my life... for me this is what a song is about never giving up, even if you have tear on your eyes. You kick the fucking ball as long as you have air in your lungs, your bastrard PS: break a leg Matt. love from finland

I had the same reaction to the theme of Snuff Box. When one of the episodes had Matt and Rich in the Mamas and the Papas playing it I assumed it was a Mamas and the Papas song. Nope, Matt Berry is just a wonderful musical anachronism.

So I haven't seen anyone point this out in the comments yet, but the actor who plays the old man in this, Nick Lucas, also played Matt Berry's dad in his earlier sitcom Snuff Box. There are a couple other nods to Snuff Box in this video as well. A snippet of the soundtrack plays when he's building the robot, and it was actually in Snuff Box that Matt Berry first released a demo for Take my Hand.

This song is heartbreaking in quarantine. Those times when you meet a new person and it clicks immediately, you go off with them and get wrapped up in learning everything about them. They're new and fascinating and exciting. That doesn't happen in now. "Everybody I know these days is boring me or ignoring me" feels like the overwhelming sentiment of quarantine.

I hopped on the Matt Berry train recently via What We Do in the Shadows and I discovered "Toast" just last night on Netflix. I was instantly taken by the GORGEOUS intro to the theme song. It seemed like something I had heard on college radio years ago or maybe it was a dreamy indie pop nugget I had only heard once during a Belle & Sebastian discography binge. It was refreshingly familiar and original all it once. Then I started on the Matt Berry albums today on Spotify ("Witchazel"). He's REALLY good. Such a talented guy!

So obviously, I heard this song first as the theme for toast of London, then I was watching what we do in the shadows last night and Matt Berry in an episode was playing the opening chords to Take My Hand. I didn’t know it’s his song!
