He also gets to utilize Sheik's insane mobility and the best frame data in the game. They aren't even remotely the same archetype. The comparison tells us basically nothing. Also Void was getting at most, half of the punish that he could be getting.

@Nathan Levesque It "tells" how much harder one player has to work than the other. You don't understand this match up, or Steve obviously. Steve also has amazing frame data. Irrationally amazing frame data when you also consider his disjoints, damage output, kill power. THINKING you can "punish" Steve is whatll get you killed at 60%. I promise you, you don't know better than Void. He wasn't missing punishes.

I don't think Small Battlefield/Battlefield is good for this MU, like Muteace said Steve loves those stages + one of the best things Sheik can do (yeet a grenade over the blocks to force him to block or move) gets snuffed out because of the platform above Acola. I do think for the most part Void just didnt have enough Steve experience in this set (he was dropping crucial opportunities after the first game), but I'm excited to see how he does from here on out

So interesting how Void tries to punish what he assumes is Acola’s bad habits throughout the set, but it’s actually Acola’s conditioning to put Void in situations where Steve can secure a kill or a set up. People like to downplay Acola because of Steve but you really have to apperciate the adaptation he has as a player

Out of the last 20 tournaments they only got first 3 times and people used them as secondary, not even solo'd them, to win. It doesn't matter how much Steve wins those majors for him to be broken, lame and carrying the people who play him. Also I don't know what statistics you looked at, but on liquipedia out of the last 20 big tournaments Steve got 1st 7 times and 2nd once. But I bet if I looked deeper into it, the tournaments he didn't win were the ones his most prominent players weren't participating in. Lame and broken character

You can not simply downplay a genius player just because he like to play a specific character. @@dreggsmcgee7310 Dealing with people not engaging is part of Smash. It's why Hbox is so scary in Melee. Muteace is a player that can deal with it when Acola decides to play more defensively. Void can't deal with it, which is why he lost. Is Steve a stupid character? Sure, but Acola is also the better player. He's also beaten good players in Japan with DK, he's not carried.

Wow this was so fun to watch🫠 I can’t remember who said it in game 3, but the way the commentators were trying to justify some of the Steve bullshit (Acola played great but ugh…) was hilarious. Somebody said something like “the way he (acola) is batting Void away with these fairs and bairs out of shield, he’s just doing them but drifting back a bit, reminding void to stay honest”. I was laughing to myself, yes, the way to explain away Steve’s overtuning is by highlighting a very basic fundamental skill all mediocre players learn well before they’re top 10; drifting away after doing an aerial 😂 This is a joke, I feel bad saying it, but the energy decline in the entire set from the commentators (and just look at the comments and twitch chat) is depressing, Steve is genuinely making Ultimate less interesting to watch and we are letting what happened to the last two titles happen again without batting an eye. The Smash community has the shortest memory god damn.
