i feel like in acowar if you look closely its v elucien heavy (opinion also maybe fact?) notice the two times "brown of a fawn's coat" are used IN THE SAME BOOK to describe both lucien's jacket and elain's eyes. and many many many hints. personally idm if azriel ends up w elain but it doesnt seem like the set up that is happening. im not denying that by the mid acosf they have crushes on each other i just think its more of a chaol/nesryn situation rather than a fake mating bond. simply because it served the plot to keep aelin and rowan apart. the stakes (and characters) arent high or important enough (at least so far this might change) and also up until like mid/end acowar az is still in love with mor. and VERY clearly. meanwhile cassian and lucien (acomaf) were heading to their respective partners during the whole king of hybern interaction.

on the topic of lucien. in acomaf with the king of hybern he breaks the spell the king has them under (unaware) to get to elain. he keeps unknowingly using his day powers. Which makes me think is that why eris wasnt ever that bad to him because he isnt a threat to the throne of the autumn court; and we may disagree with who he ends up. i think its very telling that he first used his true powers (knowingly or unknowingly) to get to her. also sjm did not really confirm in ANY interview about two mates. she was speaking about throne of glass about that particular case and as well she was hinting about the aelin/rowan mating twist.

So far nobody in maasverse has ever had 2 mates and I don't think it is possible to do so. Not true mates at least.
