Either the progress is SO slow or you must have video material recorded for the next ten 10 videos
@kennylaxague5528

The problem is that once they get to planking the videos in real time would be the same thing over and over. A few episodes ago they warned us that they will stretch out this material so that we won't watch endless planking videos. Smart boys. I think it was just last week they talked about going to the Mystic Wooden Boat Show, and that was in late June. You can follow them on KZbin to see their actual progress. You can see the same issue with Tally Ho - they've been making new frames forever so they try to mix in other material and projects.

If we documented the work at the pace of real time the videos would be horribly boring and or skim over a lot. Sometimes a full week is condensed into a video, sometimes two weeks and other times it's a day or two. It really depends on the work being done and the info we hope to convey. Some things take forever to do but a minute to explain and others are very complicated but the work happens fast. Like @Kenny Laxague said planking will be very repetitious so we are getting ahead of real time a bit (currently 3 weeks) so we can condense 6-8 weeks of planking into 2 or 3 videos instead of 6-8 planking videos. To do that we have to get ahead of real time right now. If you follow us on Facebook and or Instagram you can see what is happening in real time. Currently sawn stern frames! Please trust us that there is method to the madness, if there was not we would not have gotten this far!! =)

Speaking as the volunteer in the video at 15:55, safety is about minimizing possible problems. I have fragile hands and I am on blood thinners. If I didn't wear gloves my hands would be bloody mess by the end of each day. I should have taken my gloves off but that was not the first thing on my mind. I wanted a good smooth cut and not have the saw bind on me. That is the reason I am holding the guard open when I start the cut. (this is considered a safety issue and frowned upon) Then you have cord management. It is a long cut and I don't want the cord getting caught. After I started the cut, my left hand was moving the cord to eliminate problems. Next the floor has several timbers that have to be navigated as I moved through the shop. Tripping or saw kickbacks were my main safety concerns. Could I have been safer? Absolutely! As soon as I finished my cut Alix mentioned my gloved hand. We all forget things and need reminders. Alix and Stephen are very safety minded and would never compromise for the sake of the project. Please feel free to share this as an example of what not to do when operating a SkilSaw.

Lifting the shield on a Skilsaw for a clear view of the material is pretty much SOP on every job site I ever worked or ran. Definitely not something I'd call an issue.

You have fragile hands, are on blood thinners. I can see you're not used to handling big stock. HOWEVER, you're out there working and getting it done. Pretty badass if you ask me. Keep up the good work and be safe.

Doing OK mate you can try to run the cord on top of your shoulder It may help. What about this poor girl at 1:50 she is ready for a job as contortionist in a circus :) :) the main thing is to have the job down and still have 10 fingers on the final count at the end of the day good on you

I wasn't gonna say anything till I saw this comment as it did stand out too me. Next time you need to use a saw with the guard open you can fashion a proper wedge to keep your fingers away, it's OK to use the tool like this as there are safe ways of doing it, your reasoning was sound but the execution was a bit off. Just a learning moment that is all, I think you did a good job by recognizing it and acknowledging. What more can a person do??? Great job, :)

I've been watching your channel since the beginning and I've hit the like button on every video. I don't comment much because I don't really have anything to say that would help or motivate you. I simply have never taken on a project comparable to what you guys are doing. You are very inspirational people. To take on such a project as yours would blow my mind just thinking about trying to plan it. You guys, however, are making it happen before our very eyes. I have nothing but respect for you both and anyone who pitches in to help. This is a project and video that has turned into more of a generational event. I don't have to say "keep up the good work" because that's a given. Be safe in your building of this vessel and thank you so very much for sharing such an amazing project with us.

For future small steam box, you may want to try double wall metal vent pipe. I have used it many times and it works great. The double wall keeps the heat in, it is easy to slip on more sections for longer stock, and can be stored away when not needed. Should be available in 4", 6", and 8" diameters, maybe more. Nice work guys. New viewer. Got here through Dangar Stu.

I am glad to see others comment about the intro music. I waited to say anything to see if it grew on me and...no. Unlike everything else you do, it's generic. The original was your theme and when I heard it I knew good stuff was at hand. This... the most damning thing I can think to say is, it's irrelevant. It's not even bad. You're just waiting to get thru it and go on, instead of being motivated for the visual buffet you're about to receive. The intro imagery is great. The tune? It might as well not even be there.

Seeing Alix hanging off that frame had me thinking, "I wonder if he climbs." I got my answer real fast. I'm glad you decided to share the vista, that climb looked super fun. For anyone that doesn't climb, maybe these quotes will inspire you. "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike. " - John Muir; The Yosemite (1912), page 256. "Walk away quietly in any direction and taste the freedom of the mountaineer. Camp out among the grasses and gentians of glacial meadows, in craggy garden nooks full of nature's darlings. Climb the mountains and get their good tidings, Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. As age comes on, one source of enjoyment after another is closed, but nature's sources never fail." - John Muir; Our National Parks (1901), page 56. "You get to the top of a wall, there’s nothing up there. Lionel Terray, the great French climber called it ‘The conquistadors of the useless.’ Yeah, the end result is absolutely useless, but every time I travel, I learn something new and hopefully I get to be a better person." - Yvon Chouinard, 180 Degrees South

For the shaping of the remaining frame ends, have you thought about using quick setting cast-able silicone in a mold? Or even using rapid set rubber. There are several companies that make good stuff, available on Amazon; "Micro Mark" and "Smooth-On" to name a few. Simple process, just cut some cardboard like you already have made in this video and use model clay to put in place and mix the two part solution then pour it into the mold you've made. Since it's silicone, it wont stick to anything. It will set up in 30 minutes, and now you have a perfectly formed replica of what the frame end should look like when finished. The rest you already know how to shape and make it match the cast. Just a thought, hope it helps.
