Looking back, I think Acorns should give you the option to invest in the total stock market through the ETF, VTI. It would be simpler. Their most aggressive portfolio could be 100% VTI, and their most conservative portfolio could be 100% BND. I think they do not do this because people would probably stop paying for their services and invest in the ETFs themselves if they saw that Acorns was just investing in VTI or BND.

Going for a new slick look for your videos I see. The pain for me is the $3-5 recurring fees just to use Acorn. You could just select an aggressive, moderate, or conservative premade Pie in M1. Or copy the ETF allocation over from Acorn to M1.
@BrendanEvan
@BrendanEvan 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe I should make some M1 pies for people to easily copy when/if they switch! Good idea!

By the way if you try to cancel your 3 dollar plan you can get acorns to suggest their acorns assist plan for 1 dollar for just the investing account. Its kinda hidden😕

I prefer the medium risk portfolio. I’ve seen slow but steady returns from it. I didn’t want to be too scared and go for the safe ones so I have had good luck with it. It’s not for everyone I like how easy it is. Thank you for this video. I appreciate you bringing this up.

If you stick with full aggressive then anything can happen. Not easy timing the market but if you pay attention you could have moved out of stocks in to the money market, it is paying about 5% . Full aggressive and you could be down another 20%

The pain point for me with acorns is that fee. If you don't know jack about investing, you're likely not ready to sink thousands of dollars into it. And the less you have invested, the more those fees hurt, especially in the long term, which is the timescale you should be investing for.

Man if they add individual stock picks that would be amazing I’m only moderately investing because with this, 401k and stocks somewhere has to be lower and I decided acorns would be. However, if they add this feature I would add a little more in as I go.

The best thing you can do for now is learn valuable skills to set yourself up for a high income in the next 5-10 years. As far as investing, you’re not legally allowed but maybe your parents could invest your money for you. A custodial account is meant for that kind of thing
@hannahchristine5240
@hannahchristine5240 Жыл бұрын
You can’t legally trade right now. If you trust your parents, there is a Future feature on Acorns that 18+ people can invest in their kids. You could have your parents put your money in there for you and at least be getting some interest.

How do you get your money so you can pay bills or pay off your car or buy a new car? I was wondering that one we started Acorn invest yesterday and now have 3 cents more then what we put in. Which was 40 because we put a 20 one time fee and a recurring of 20 as well a week. I hope we are able to pay off our car with this in like 5 or so years from now. I don't think we will touch it ever. New subscriber here. Hope you are still with Acorn or at least do more videos like this I know this was a year ago.

Is ur acorns acorns account an ira or regular investing account? Are you able to withdraw money from ur acorns right now theoretically and be charged fees or no?
@BrendanEvan
@BrendanEvan Жыл бұрын
I just use the taxable brokerage (aka regular) account. Here’s the tricky bit, even if you used an IRA you would be allowed to take money out whenever you want. It’s not until tax time that it could come back to bite you.
