One of the guitarists, I'm not sure which, referred to Su as a child prodigy for her ability to perform this song live. Due to it's complex time signatures, limited visibility, and crazy instrumentation.

The performance by the band solo is great. However, as soon as the vocal appears and starts singing, everyone gasps at her beauty and recognizes that she is the protagonist.❤

Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥 Glad to see you're back with another suggestion over a song composed by YuppeMetal (aka Yuyoyuppe), you'll hear more songs from him, he's also behind "Karate", Kagerou, the arrangements of Megitsune (you already saw) and more new songs from latest album like Monochrome and Believing. "Akumu No Rondo" (or Rondo Of Nightmare) combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile elegance that makes you want to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare. Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so it is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity. Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, an example of this could be the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk". The Kami Band is doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou. You already know some of them from your previous reaction, such Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, this time Leda Cygnus is the first guitar. This was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart. But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately. Like i said, YuppeMetal is the one behind this song and he took inspiration from "Protest The Hero - Bloodmeat" song, of course i recommend you to hear that blaster song. Thanks for sharing this wonderful SuMetal solo and my favorite along with "Akatsuki" (live at Budokan 2014 is another great choice) The other solos are great too and those are: - No Rain No Rainbow live at Legend S 2017 - Amore live at Wembley Arena 2016. And of course the rest of the girls under a subgroup called "Black Babymetal" are enjoyable too, they're taking a break here while SuMetal is performing to come back later, so don't miss out on their other 4 songs too such: - "Onedari Daisakusen" live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react. - "Song 4" or "4 No Uta" live at Budokan 2014. - "GJ!" live at Wembley Arena 2016 - "Sis Anger" live at Tokyo Dome 2016". Next suggestion: - Onedari Daisakusen live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react. Kitsune up and see you next time.🦊🤘🔥

Welcome back and great reaction again. At the risk of repeating everything you have already been told - this is one of 4 Su-metal solo songs, two on each of the first two albums. The others are 'Akatsuki', 'Amore' and 'No Rain, No Rainbow'. Yui and Moa would get a break while Su performed those - Su would get a break when Yui and Moa performed one of their duets - they were called Black BABYMETAL for those and they also had two on each of the first two albums (4 No Uta' or Song 4, Onedari Daisakusen', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger'). The Kami Band intro here is, as you know, called 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods' (it is not on the album). In order of solos - Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). There can't be many 16 year olds who could follow that intro and then just take over the whole stage and arena the way Su did. I understand rondo is a musical term denoting a repeated theme - something like that anyway. I believe they borrowed the term for the title of this song as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare, being chased through the darkness by something she can't see. Eventually she hides, but it is still coming closer. Knowing there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least reveal itself to her. This was early March 2014. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (think the equivalent of Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden - it is the place all Japanese artists aspire to play), Red Night and Black Night, becoming the youngest average age female band ever to headline there. They had just released their first album - they sold out both nights. 🤘🦊🤘 They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021.

If you read the lyrics of the song it is much darker in context. It's about a little girl who trapped in a recurring nightmare where she was chased by a beast in an endless night. She eventually gave up and asked the creature to reveal its face before her inevitable death. The translated lyrics go "If I can no longer get out of here, Won't you at least show me your figure?" Basically a darker and twisted version of "Alice In Wonderland". I've been a fan for as long as I can remember and Rondo Of Nightmare is hands down one of their best masterpiece.

Excellent reaction, thanks! "Rondo of nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare where she's chased by a dark entity and she tries to hide and run away. Finally, she understand there is no way out so, she ask the entity to reveal its real nature before giving up. The song premiered live the previous night at the same stage and venue so, this was just the second time they performed it live. Su-metal was only 16 years old and two months (give or take) at the time this performance took place and she sounds so incredible that it's easy to forget it. This is one of the four solo songs by Su-metal. The other are: "Akatsuki", "No rain no rainbow" and "Amore". Yui and Moa were taking a well deserved break at backstage... or under it in this case. They also have four songs as a duo (without Su) called Black BABYMETAL: "Onedari Daisakusen", "Yon no uta", "GJ!" and "Sis. Anger". "I can't even count". Good, good... If your music brain feels stressed here, wait until you watch and listen to "Tales of the Destinies" (please do the live version from the Tokyo Dome 2016 by any means) . 😁 Until next time! 🤘🦊

@@StanDotsethMusic That's a perfectly valid point of view. I don't understand Japanese either. But I'm not a native English speaker and I grew up without understanding English lyrics so I had to search for a translation (it was not easy at the time without the Internet). So I learned to enjoy the music and the vocals as one thing (like it was another instrument) and work on the actual lyrics after that. Then, I learned English (more or less) and I still don't let the lyrics interfere with my first impression of the songs. Now, listening to Japanese music, my approach paid off and I'm able to fully enjoy the songs from the first listening naturally.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。This is one of the songs that I am longing for their revivals by New BABYMETAL. "Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.

The Kami Band are amazing musicians but the singers/dancers are seriously legit in their roles too. This is and 'Tales of the Destinies' are rhythmically complex - the latter especially so - yet Su, Moa, Yui and all the Avengers who stood in for Yui after her departure are equal to the challenge of singing/dancing to stuff like this without batting an eyelid. Hardcore, professional performers.

Great reaction, nice to see your first impression of the Kami Band. As for the time signatures in "Rondo...", you were on point with noticing they play seven at some point, since it goes 4/4-3/4-4/4-4/4 according to the official score. And for the chorus they switch to a metal waltz - just 3/4 (I guess you have easily figured it out though). 🤘🦊

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL "aren't really metal". It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage. Sure, it's brave of her to sing and dance on a small raised platform in the dark. But true courage is following that Kami Band instrumental with a solo song. : ) "Rondo" had it's world premiere the previous evening at Budokan Red Night. This was the Black Night at Budokan on March 2nd 2014, with Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars and Hideki Aoyama on drums. And of course BOH on bass. Not that many people play a six stringed bass to begin with, let alone tap one like that.

You forgot to add it's brave that not only was this only her second time performing this song live, but also she was only 17 at the time. Take all the rest away and just stop to think what you were doing at 17. Ask yourself if you'd be willing to perform in front of 20 to 30k strong full of metalhead men who are older than you all along without even your other girls with you for support. THEN add the raised stage, in the dark, without protection from falling. She's amazing. Hopefully her parents are very proud of her, although even if they aren't she has millions of fans that are lol

Gotta love the Kami Band intros, and Su absolutely kills it! Also, you may find this helpful for future reactions: Kami Band does intro (all member solos) for: Catch Me If You Can, YAVA!, Awadama Fever, and Kegarou (Kami West). Note, not all versions of these performances has solos, so if you plan to react to any of these, be sure to find the longer ones. Kami Band solo sections, while there's many songs that may have a heavy breakdown involving sweet guitar riffs, the following has a more "prominent" band section: Amore (dueling bass + drums, dueling guitars), Akatsuki (dueling guitars), Tales of the Destinies (crazy guitar solos, with a side of extra prog), Metalizm (you already reacted to), to name a few. Songs where the band is more prominent: Babymetal Death and In the Name Of. Both of these are typical intro songs to concerts (Death used as outro too). These have minimal vocals and is more of a super dark, super metal stage show. These are all that I recall for now, but I'm sure I'm missing a few. Enjoy your Babymetal journey! 🦊🤘

Great reaction, it's actually very appreciated to see the perspective of all musicians about this song composition! It's my second favorite solo from Su, about the other girls I guess you were already informed about that, Jake Muller and Grington are fast lol ah also just one thing a small advice to not try to separate technically the girls from the band, imo they shine the most when you notice the close dynamics btw them the back and forth until they synchronize. There is inumerous songs that showcase that so I want to recommend and hear your perspective on Ijime, Dame, Zettai or YAVA. Headbanger is amazing as well and I'm sure someone already requested that or will eventually.
