This is an often overlooked part of the song, but Vessel foreshadows the ending of the song when he sings “I don’t know what’s got its teeth in me, but I’m about to bite back in anger”. That’s what that ending is. Anger. “I HAVE traveled far beyond the path of reason”. Most people think it comes out of nowhere, but between those lyrics, the build, and other context clues, I’d say it’s fitting. Masterfully done. The fade-out is also fitting considering the sound and theme of the next (final) song on the album.

I’m not going to lie, my brain only hears the melody and band on the first few listens, and I tend to miss most of the lyrics. That’s so cool that they foreshadowed that from a lyrical standpoint!

Not the album closer. Just some info on the album closer Euclid. ST’s three albums are a trilogy. The first song on their first album TNDBTG is called back to on the last song of the trilogy. I believe the minor chords used on the first song are inverted to major chords on Euclid. But that’s not all. For fans of the band who’ve been paying attention the last track definitely hits. Hope this didn’t spoil too much for you.
