@@jackcrane7853 I agree Jack. There is nothing wrong with yoghurt at all. I love it, especially the real deal like they do in Turkey. However, IF ones brains were replaced with yogurt, I expect one may no longer be able to discriminate between genius and horse shit. Of course there are many other conditions of the brain, none of them good, that may also lead to the inability to discriminate greatness from garbage. Tertiary Syphilis , comes to mind, but stroke, severe head trauma, etc may all do it. Cheers,

A lot of (highly regarded) slide players are too sharp & whiny for my taste. Don't know if it's her tuning or what, but Megan's tone just sounds smoother to me.

We might not have Meghan, or Ben Harper, playing electric lap steel if not for David Lindley. I hope his slide tone isn't too aggressive for your taste! Other than Lindley with Jackson Browne, the only other lap steel tune I can think of that made a dent on the pop charts was Santo snd Johnny's "Sleepwalk". Of course, electric lap steel styles go back to the late 1920's, and acoustic lap steel styles go back farther than that. Anyway, bottleneck slide often tends to be a bit noisier, buzzier and less clean because of fret buzz, string buzz, slide noises as it hits the neck,, extraneous behind the string reverse noises, and so on. A lap steel doesn't require fretted notes, the action is way high, the slide is heavy and puts significant pressure on the strings, and the left hand can easily damp unwanted string noise. Still, I love bottleneck slide playing; check out Ry Cooder some time! And another guy you might want to check out is Junior Brown who plays lap steel and Telecaster, he has a Frankenstein style double neck instrument known as a "guit-steel", and he can play anything from surf music to chicken pickin' to Hendrix. And shame on me, I nearly forgot to mention Cindy Cashdollar, she's a fantastic lap steel player (and yes, that is her real name!).
