Last weekend i was getting ready to go out on the sesh. I accidentally came across your pub cover of this song. It turned my head, took a sip of my beer and stopped getting ready. 10 pints later and deep into a Saturday night sesh i started singing this song repeatedly and proceeded to piss of all my mates! Unsatisfied with my efforts i then decided the right thing to do was text my entire phone-book "I saw the crescent.....?". The replies included "Are you OK mate?" and "What the hell are you talking about?" and "Sorry i don't have you number saved, who is this?". 7 days later I got a text from my friend James simply saying "YOU SAW THE WHOLE OF THE MOON!". James is now my best friend.

All the way from South Africa. And old enough to have been around when this strange song made its appearance in the late 80's. This was probably the lost song of our generation. A banging melody, and deep deep lyrics that we would pull apart in the late evenings and early morning hours after a wee bit too much to drink. And obviously we had to mimic that comet crashing sound every time. Found your pub sing a long video after listening to sally barker from the voice's haunting rendition of this in the finals. And this song still stands the test of time. Whether sung as a haunting yearning song, or an exuberant celebration of life. Kudos to mike scott for acknowledging the impact his music and lyrics still has after all these years. Well done lads. I hope that what was your tribute to your friends at his stag opens doors for you. You have brought a lot of joy to a middle aged guy going through a rough patch right now.
